Bangladesh High Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Hussain said this during a meeting with the Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan at Governor House Lahore today. The bilateral meeting explored opportunities for enhancing collaboration between the two countries in diverse areas with special focus on education and trade. Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that Bangladesh and Pakistan are brotherly Islamic countries that share many values including history, religion and culture. He said that the Pakistani people love their Bangladeshi brothers and sisters. He said that there is a need to increase people-to-people contact between the two countries. He expressed the hope that a new history will be written in the relations between the two countries under the current government of Bangladesh. The governor said that Bangladeshi students can pursue higher education in the fields of medical and engineering in Pakistan. He said that the initiative of both countries to open the doors of higher education for students under the scholarship programme is excellent initiative. He said that the Punjab government can also consider providing scholarships to Bangladeshi students. He added that Pakistan and Bangladesh can take trade relations to new heights by increasing import and export in various sectors.
