Peeping Tom gets jail after skipping fine
MUAR: A 24-year-old man has been sentenced to five months in prison after failing to pay a RM2,800 fine for peeping at a woman in a public toilet earlier this month.
Muhammad Nazrullah Basir, who is unemployed, was initially fined after pleading guilty before Magistrate Fatin Dalilah Khalid.
He was accused of peering under the door of a women's toilet at Tanjung Emas at 9.30am on April 14, based on a complaint by a 26-year-old woman.
The offence falls under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to five years, a fine, or both.
According to case facts, the woman screamed after spotting him, prompting the accused to flee in a Perodua Kancil.
A toilet attendant who witnessed the incident lodged a police report.
Muhammad Nazrullah was arrested on April 21.
Deputy public prosecutor Nur Amieerah Alludin prosecuted, while Tee Xi Ran from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK) represented the accused.
