"If we succeed with our plan, this would be largest attack on US ...," read encrypted message of Pakistani extradited for planning ISIS-inspired terror attacks in New York
Muhammad Shahzeb Khan entered Canada from Pakistan on a student visa in 2023. A Pakistani national residing in Canada, Muhammad Shahzeb Khan , also known as Shahzeb Jadoon, was extradited to the United States this week to face charges for plotting an ISIS-inspired mass shooting at a Jewish community center in New York City. The planned attack, intended to coincide with the first anniversary of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks on Israel. The plot was uncovered largely through Khan's use of encrypted messaging apps, which reportedly played a critical role in both his planning and eventual apprehension. FBI Director Kash Patel said Khan allegedly tried to enter the US to commit the attack and planned an ISIS-inspired mass shooting on October 7, 2024, around the first anniversary of the 2023 Hamas terrorist attack in Israel. "Major news… earlier this afternoon, Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, a Pakistani citizen residing in Canada, was extradited to the United States on charges of attempting to provide material support to ISIS and attempting to commit acts of terrorism," Patel said in a post on Twitter. How Muhammad Shahzeb Khan relied on messaging apps Khan, 20, was charged in the Southern District of New York, according to a Department of Justice press release. The investigation revealed that Khan relied heavily on encrypted messaging platforms to communicate his plans, believing these apps provided secure and untraceable communication. However, one of his contacts was an undercover FBI agent. The encrypted message that exposed Khan's intentions was sent to this agent, whom Khan is said to have trusted as an ally. In a communication with undercover law enforcement officers, Khan claimed that if the plan succeeded, it would be "the largest attack on US soil since 9/11." In it, he also outlined his goal to kill "as many Jewish people as possible" in New York City on October 7, 2024. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? This arrest is said to have spooked Khan, prompting him to send an encrypted message to his supposed associates, urging them to "lay low" and avoid social media to evade detection. The recipients were undercover agents who encouraged him to proceed with the attack, assuring him that weapons were ready. This deception kept Khan engaged, allowing authorities to reportedly gather further evidence through monitored encrypted communications. Khan arrived in Toronto on June 24, 2023, on a student visa, though it remains unclear which university he was enrolled in. On September 4, 2024, he began his journey toward the US border, starting in Toronto and driving to Napanee, Ontario, to pick up others allegedly involved in the plot. In Napanee, Khan and an unidentified female switched vehicles and continued to Montreal, where they changed cars again with another person driving. Approximately 19 kilometers from the US border, Canadian authorities stopped the vehicle and arrested Khan, thwarting the planned attack. He was provisionally arrested in Canada in September 2024 based on a complaint filed in the Southern District of New York. The case underscores the dual nature of encrypted messaging apps in modern terrorism investigations. While these platforms offer privacy and are widely used for legitimate purposes, they are also exploited by individuals planning illicit activities. AI Masterclass for Students. Sinister face behind Brooklyn Jewish terror plot revealed as suspect is hauled to America for justice
A Pakistani man accused of plotting a chilling ISIS-inspired mass shooting at a Jewish center in Brooklyn has been hauled to New York to face justice. Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, 20, was extradited from Canada after allegedly scheming to unleash a terror attack targeting Jewish Americans with automatic rifles - on or around the anniversary of Hamas ' Oct. 7 massacre in Israel. Prosecutors say Khan aimed to 'kill as many members of our Jewish community as possible' in a horrifying attack meant to mirror the devastation of 9/11. Khan, who had been living in Quebec, was arrested last September by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) just 20 kilometers from the U.S. border. According to U.S. Attorney Damian Williams, Khan had been communicating with an undercover law enforcement officer posing as an ISIS sympathizer, laying out his entire plan - down to the AR-style rifles, ammunition, and getaway strategy. 'During one communication, Khan noted that "if we succeed with our plan this would be the largest attack on U.S. soil since 9/11",' prosecutors said in a statement. Khan began posting extremist propaganda online in late 2023 and soon connected with others via encrypted messaging apps, allegedly pledging support to ISIS and sharing attack blueprints with a U.S.-based co-conspirator. By August 2024, he allegedly switched his target to a Jewish community center in Brooklyn, with plans to carry out the shooting near the one-year mark of the Hamas-led rampage that left more than 1,200 people dead in Israel. Khan is now facing multiple charges in the U.S., including attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization and attempting to commit terrorism transcending national borders. If convicted, he faces life in prison. The shocking case has sent ripples through Jewish communities in New York and beyond, with authorities praising the undercover operation that stopped the alleged plot before it could be carried out. The allegations have not yet been proven in court. The case comes amid rising fears over anti-Semitic violence nationwide—just days after a pro-Israel rally in Colorado was firebombed in what the FBI is calling a 'targeted terror attack.' Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, allegedly injured eight people—aged 52 to 88—after launching a Molotov cocktail-style attack at a peaceful rally in Boulder on Sunday during the Jewish holiday of Shavuot. Terrifying footage showed victims lying motionless beside Israeli flags as flames erupted. One man was reportedly set ablaze. Soliman, shirtless and holding bottles of alcohol, yelled 'End Zionists' and 'Free Palestine' before hurling incendiary devices into the crowd, according to the ADL. The FBI labeled it a 'targeted terror attack,' while Colorado's Attorney General said it appeared to be a hate crime. Soliman first entered the U.S. in 2022 on a visa under the Biden administration, overstayed it, and was later granted a work permit through 2025, officials confirmed. He was arrested without incident but also hospitalized for minor injuries. One victim remains in critical condition. Police evacuated several blocks around Boulder's Pearl Street Mall.

Encrypted message advicing 'lay low': How Pakistani Muhammad Shahzeb Khan was hiding in Canada
Muhammad Shahzeb Khan entered Canada from Pakistan on a student visa in 2023. Pakistani national Muhammad Shahzeb Khan was extradited to the US for planning a mass shooting of Jews on the first anniversary of the October 7 Hamas attack in New York City. Khan was hiding in Canada and claimed that if his plan succeeded, it would have been the "largest attack on US soil since 9/11". Canadian media reported that Khan was traced through an encrypted message that he sent someone who thought an ally but was an undercover American agent. The arrest of a father and son over an alleged terrorist plot in Ontario spooked Khan and he sent a message that there was a need to "lay low" on his plans of killing "as many Jewish people as possible in New York", Khan was arrested on his way from Canada to New York to carry out his plans and has now been extradited to the US. The RCMP said it conducted an investigation into Khan in partnership with the FBI and 'as his actions escalated, at no point in time was Khan an immediate threat prior to his arrest.' FBI special agent Khajae Hester said Khan used encrypted messaging apps to communicate with undercover agents posing as willing participants in the plot, asking them to buy 'automatic and semi-automatic weapons.' Here's what Khan planned sitting in Canada United States Attorney General Merrick Garland said Khan was alleged to have had the goal of 'slaughtering, in the name of ISIS, as many Jewish people as possible.' The complaint filed when Khan was arrested said that since last November, Khan 'repeatedly and explicitly expressed his support for ISIS and his desire to carry out terrorist attacks in support of ISIS.' The complaint said Khan boasted the mass shooting would be 'the largest attack on US soil since 9/11. ' According to the complaint filed in Canada, Khan faced three charges in Canada: attempting to leave Canada to commit an offence for a terrorist group, participating in activities of a terrorist group and conspiracy to commit an offence by violating US immigration law or attempting to enter the US unlawfully. How Khan was arrested On July 31, 2024, the RCMP arrested two terrorists -- father and son Ahmed Eldidi and Mostafa Eldidi. Khan got alerted and warned his associates to stay off social media. But the associates, who were undercover agents, told Khan that they had the weapons ready and he should go ahead with the plan. On September 4, 2024, Khan got in a vehicle in Toronto and set off for Napanee to pick up others who were supposed to accompany him on the mission. In Nepanee, they switched to a second car and drove to Montreal where Khan and an 'unidentified female' changed vehicles again, with another person at the wheel When they were about 19 kilometers from the US border, the vehicle was stopped and Khan was arrested. Khan entered Canada in 2023 Khan arrived in Toronto on June 24, 2023 on a student visa. It was not known which university he was enrolled to.
