Bawankule denies transfer of funds for Ladki Bahin scheme from tribal development dept

Nashik: State revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Saturday categorically denied transfer of funds from the tribal development department to the beneficiaries of Mukhya Mantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The minister was in Nashik for a meeting with district revenue officials. He said, "Media reports claiming funds transfer from the tribal dept to women and child development for clearing the dues of Ladki Bahin beneficiaries were baseless. Expenditure is made under separate heads for various schemes. The govt cannot transfer funds from one dept to another, especially from social welfare and tribal dept to any other department." Asked about allegations in the past by members of Mahayuti (minister Sanjay Shirsat had criticized the finance dept over the transfer of funds), Bawankule said that they were under a wrong impression and after being informed, they understood the issue. Hence, there is no statement this time despite a section of the media reporting that the funds were being used from the tribal welfare department, he said. Bawankule further claimed that media reports and claims were the handiwork of disgruntled elements. "This (allegation) is the brainchild of same people who were claiming that BJP will change the Constitution if it comes to power at the Centre. Has anything changed? When they are not able to convince people against the govt, they start confusing people against the govt," said Bawankule. Bawankule, who conducted the meeting of revenue officials, said that the state govt had come up with a new sand policy in which the state govt would provide 50 crushers to every district, and they would be given a piece of land where they could dig and crush stones. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "They will not bore into any of the hills but on the ground allotted. The mining land thus formed will be used as a water reservoir for future," said Bawankule. Bawankule further reiterated that Mahayuti will contest the forthcoming elections as a single unit barring that every mayor and council president will belong to Mahayuti as the alliance was capable enough of bagging more than 51 per cent of votes.

Ladki Bahin gets 336cr from tribal dept, min denies

Mumbai: Funds worth Rs 335.7 crore were allocated from the tribal welfare department to the state's flagship Mukhya Mantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, which provides a stipend of Rs 1,500 per month for underprivileged women. This is the second tranche in the last two months, raising questions about whether funds meant for tribals are being diverted. However, officials from the finance department point out that it is the norm to spread the budget for schemes across departments. Departments for specialised groups, including scheduled castes and tribal welfare, are allocated a portion of the funds with the condition that they can only spend it on SC and ST beneficiaries. The state allocated Rs 36,000 crore for the Ladki Bahin scheme in the budget. Of this, Rs 28,290 crore was from the general budget. A sum of Rs 3,960 crore was allocated for the scheme to the social welfare department for SC beneficiaries, and Rs 3,250 crore was allocated to the tribal welfare department for ST beneficiaries. The tranches to the Ladki Bahin scheme from the tribal welfare department are coming from this allocation. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Beyond Text Generation: An AI Tool That Helps You Write Better Grammarly Install Now Undo Opposition leader Rohit Pawar from the NCP (SP) said, "Funds should not be diverted from poor tribals to other schemes." However, the Mahayuti govt emphasised that there was no diversion. "The budget heads for the Ladki Bahin scheme, tribal welfare, and social welfare are different," pointed out revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule. Last month, social welfare minister Sanjay Shirsat objected to Rs 410 crore being allocated from his department to the Ladki Bahin scheme. He alleged that earlier too, a sum of almost Rs 7,000 crore was diverted from his department. However, this was not a diversion but the allocation for various schemes made through the social welfare department for SC beneficiaries, officials say. Meanwhile, in Nashik, state revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Saturday categorically denied that funds from the tribal development department were being transferred to ensure that the beneficiaries of the Mukhya Mantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana received their instalment. He said, "Expenditure is made under separate heads for various schemes. The govt cannot transfer funds from one dept to another – especially from social welfare and tribal dept to any other department."

Govt struggling to clear dues of ‘Ladki Bahin' scheme

Nashik: NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar said on Saturday that the state govt was struggling to provide funds for Mukhya Mantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana. He said that the govt had diverted funds from other departments to the accounts of beneficiaries of the scheme. He advised the govt to increase its income sources for successful implementation of the scheme. Pawar held a meeting with party office-bearers and functionaries in Nashik. Briefing the media, Pawar said, "Before the elections, they promised to give Rs 1,500 to the 'ladki bahin' (sisters) in the state and started giving it. But sustaining it is a different thing, and after coming to office, they are now finding it difficult." "Govt should boost its income to finance the scheme, as the current way of clearing dues is an injustice to the beneficiaries of the social justice department and the tribal welfare department, from where the funds are being reportedly transferred," said Pawar. Pawar said party supremo Sharad Pawar would spell out the party's agenda regarding contesting the civic polls during the forthcoming anniversary celebration of the party. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Scalable retail: Video analytics firm enables more traffic thanks to robust computing power - Google Cloud: Future of Infrastructure CIO | Google Cloud, AMD Undo Speaking on the undivided NCP and Shiv Sena, Rohit Pawar said that there were two brands – the first is the original and loved by people, and the second is artificially pumped up. "One brand is accepted, loved, and supported by the people and grows big, which has natural support, and the other brand is 'shown' big by 'pumping in money'. The other kind will not last longer," said the MLA. On the SIT announced by the state govt to investigate the seizure of Rs 1.84 crore cash allegedly related to the visit of the Estimates Committee in Dhule, Pawar claimed, "It will be fruitless. Many such teams were formed in the past on various issues with zero outcome. A judicial inquiry should be conducted into this matter to trace the movement of money." He said that the Maharashtra State Commission for Women was an autonomous body and hence there should be an apolitical appointment to the body. The person could be primarily be a retired person with judiciary background or a very senior retired bureaucrat. This demand will be raised during the upcoming session, said Pawar.

Maharashtra Politics: Why Ladki Bahin Yojana Has Put Shiv Sena, NCP At Loggerheads

Maharashtra Politics: There have been speculations about possible rift in the Mahayuti government ever since it retained power in Maharashtra. Soon after Devendra Fadnavis was made Chief Minister and Eknaths Shinde was made his deputy in a role reversal, the clamours of rift gained popularity. Now, the Mahayuti government's flagship scheme Mukhya Mantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, which has been facing increased scrutiny, has turned into a bone of contention between the NCP of Ajit Pawar and Shiv Sena of Eknath Shinde. The continuation of the Ladki Bahin Yojana demands a massive mobilisation of funds and this has reportedly led to diversion of funds from certain Departments, thus irking the Minister of the concerned department. The reports of the diversion of Rs 400 crore from the Social Justice Ministry have sparked a Sena vs NCP verbal battle. Social Justice Minister and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Shirsat has slammed the Finance Department headed by the NCP leader Ajit Pawar saying that he was not informed about the diversion of the funds. Shirsat said that he came to know about it from news reports and added that the funds were meant for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) but were diverted for the Ladki Bahin prorgram. "If there is no need for the Social Justice Department, then it can very well be closed,' Indian Express quoted him saying. Both, the BJP and the NCP have maintained that there is no difference within Mahayuti. Reacting to the remarks by the Sena leader, Revenue Minister and state BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that he would talk to Sanjay Shirsat and CM Fadnavis. Since the Finance Ministry came under the NCP, Shiv Sena has been alleging discriminatory treatment alleging that departments headed by Sena Ministers got fewer funds. However, Pawar had rejected the claim. With Shinde already sulking over his demotion as Deputy CM, the next developments will hold a key in Maharashtra's political sphere.

Social welfare min blasts Ajit's finance over funds diversion to Ladki Bahin

Mumbai: Social welfare minister Sanjay Shirsat on Saturday hit out at the state govt's decision to divert an allocation of Rs 746 crore meant for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes depts to its flagship Mukhya Mantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana . The finance dept cannot divert funds from other depts, he fumed, and added that the state should close down the social welfare dept altogether if it is not needed. "I heard about the diversion from the media. Earlier too, Rs 7,000 crore had been diverted from the dept. If this dept is not needed, they should close it down. I will speak to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis," said Shirsat who belongs to the Shiv Sena led by deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde. The episode showed the rift between Shinde and deputy CM Ajit Pawar , who heads finance. Without naming Pawar, Shirsat targeted the finance dept's "Shakuni". Shirsat complained his dept already faced a debt of Rs 1,500 crore and fund diversion would mean even less money for its schemes. "This is the high-handedness of the 'Shakuni' in the finance department. Funds meant for this department cannot be diverted and used for Dalit sisters. The Ladki Bahin scheme does not recognise caste. The money should be raised from other sources," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 10 Mysterious Photos That Cannot Be Explained True Edition Undo Public health minister Prakash Abitkar who belongs to the Shiv Sena also said other departments were feeling the strain after the Ladki Bahin scheme was introduced. "It's true that other departments have had to struggle for funds after the Ladki Bahin scheme was introduced. Not enough allocation was made in the budget." Rural development minister Girish Mahajan defended the govt though. "There is enough money for the Ladki Bahin scheme. No money will be diverted. Some arrangement must have been made for a few days but I am not aware of it," he said. Meanwhile, the Opposition has targeted the govt. "The funds to the SC and ST departments are allocated on the basis of the population of these groups. Diverting funds is unfair to SCs and STs." Jayant Patil of the NCP (SP) said Shirsat could not afford to complain. "The Shiv Sena left the MVA govt after complaining that as finance minister Ajit Pawar was not giving funds to their party. Now they are in govt together once again. He is doing the same thing so now they can't afford to complain," said Patil. According to the govt resolution issued on Friday, the state cleared the utilisation of Rs 410.3 crore out of the Rs 3,690 crore allocated for scheme expenditure to the social justice department and Rs 335.7 crore of the Rs 3,240 crore allocated for the scheme expenditure of the tribal welfare department for the Ladki Bahin scheme. These funds are to be used for the Ladki Bahin beneficiaries belonging to the SC and ST category. The Ladki Bahin scheme was introduced in July 2024, and was aimed at the state assembly polls. It proved to be a gamechanger and led to a landslide victory for the Mahayuti alliance. In the state budget this March, the allocation for the scheme was reduced from Rs 46,000 crore last year to Rs 36,000 crore. At that time, Shirsat alleged Rs 7,000 crore had been diverted from the social justice department and Rs 3,000 crore from the tribal welfare department for the Ladki Bahin scheme
