Mumbai to Hyderabad in just few hours! Check Mumbai–Hyderabad High-Speed Rail route, key stops, fares, too speed to be ..
In a major step toward improving travel and boosting regional connections in southern and western India, the Mumbai-Hyderabad High-Speed Rail (MHHSR) project is making steady progress. As per a Times Now report, this ambitious bullet train line will stretch across 767 kilometers, linking major cities such as Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad. The route will include 11 stations strategically placed across the states of Maharashtra and Telangana.
The Mumbai-Hyderabad line is part of a broader plan by the Indian government to introduce six new high-speed rail routes, announced back in 2019. While actual construction hasn't begun yet, early groundwork began with tender processes in October 2020. According to The Metro Rail Guy , once completed, this project is expected to revolutionize travel in the region by making long-distance journeys quicker, safer, and more comfortable.
Although construction across all six corridors is still pending, the Mumbai-Hyderabad route remains a priority in the planning phase. Highlights of the Mumbai-Hyderabad Bullet Train Project
The train is being designed using the latest technology to meet global standards in speed, efficiency, and safety. Here are some of the key details: Top Speed: 350 km/h
Usual Operating Speed: 320 km/h
Average Speed: 250 km/h
Track Width: Standard Gauge (1435 mm)
Signaling: Modern digital system with DS-ATC
Power Supply: 25 kV AC through overhead cables
Passenger Capacity: Around 750 people per train
Safety System: Equipped with UrEDAS, an emergency earthquake detection system that enables automatic braking during seismic events. Mumbai-Hyderabad Bullet Train: Route, Stations & What to Expect
The route will feature 11 important stations, covering a blend of metro cities and regional hubs: Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai

The rail line is likely to follow existing expressways, national highways, and newly developed corridors, and may even link with the ongoing Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train route near Thane, especially at Package C3. Premium experience at an affordable price
While ticket prices haven't been finalized yet, early estimates suggest that fares could be around 1.5 times the current first-class AC fare on Indian Railways. This means the train will offer a premium experience fast, smooth, and comfortable at a price that's still within reach for many travelers. Who's working on the project?
Although the Mumbai-Hyderabad high-speed rail is still in the planning phase, key contractors have already been appointed for essential groundwork and surveys. Here's who's handling what: Data & Surveys: Highway Engineering Magnitude Consortium
Traffic Study: PK Engineers
Preliminary Route Planning: Translink Consultants (General Alignment Drawings)
Final Route & Drone Mapping: Monarch Surveyors and Engineering Consultants
Utility & Power Supply Mapping: Chetak Engineers
Social Impact & Relocation Planning: Egis India Consulting Engineers and JS Environics
Environmental Assessment: In progress, with 7 technical bids currently under review
As the project picks up pace, these early planning steps are crucial for making the bullet train a reality.
