India's GM Lalit Babu took the Mumbai International Grandmaster Chess tournament title after edging out Armenian Mamikon Gharibyan on a higher tie-break score on Wednesday.
Babu got the better of top-seeded Georgian GM Lavin Pantsulaia to accumulate eight points out of nine games, but had to endure nervy moments as Gharibyan also notched up eight points with a win over Indian GM Neeloptal Das. However, Babu's higher tie-break score of 54.5 as compared to Gharibyan's 54 helped the Indian pip out the Armenian to the crown as the 32-year-old bagged the trophy and the purse.
