This cult film was rejected by 4 heroes, won more than 20 awards, the movie is..., lead actor was... In the glitzy and glamorous world of Bollywood, where fame is always fleeting, nothing is predictable or goes as planned. An actor who would be winning hearts one day would suddenly disappear. Similarly, sometimes films with big star casts fail to meet the expectations, and on other days, a newcomer takes everyone by storm. How a film turns out at the box office and becomes a redefining moment for an actor, nobody can tell. History has also proved that sometimes what might not work for others might work for someone else. An actor's rejection can turn to become another actor's redemption. A similar story happened when a script that was once considered risky and unconventional by many stars turned out to strike gold at the box office. The film we are talking about was rejected by 4 big heroes, but later it became a cult classic and went on to bag 25 awards. Moreover, it turned to redefine a fading star's career. Yes, the film we are referring to is none other than Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. Made on a humble budget of just Rs. 10 crores, this film turned out to do exceptionally well at the box office, earning over Rs. 22.97 crores in India and Rs. 34.82 crores at the box office, more than thrice its budget. But besides the commercial success, the film carved a legacy that went far beyond numbers. However, what makes the story more intriguing is that this Rajkumar Hirani film was first offered to R. Madhavan, followed by Anil Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi. In fact, even the badshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, was also shortlisted; however, he had to back out at the last moment due to his back injury. But eventually, this film landed on Sanjay Dutt's luck and became a career-defining moment for him. Sanjay Dutt was in dire need of revival, following the controversy of the 1993 Mumbai bomb blast case, and this film did justice to his need. He played the role of a lovable gangster turned medical student who won the hearts of millions with his impeccable performance and relatable character for the audience. The film quickly grabbed eyeballs and became a major hit. It went on to win 25 awards, including the National Award for Best Popular Film and the Filmfare Award for Best Comic Actor for Sanjay Dutt Besides the major commercial success, this film also had an emotional impact that resonates even today. Sunil Dutt, Sanjay Dutt's real father, played the role of his on-screen father, and that also marked Sunil Dutt's last film before he passed away. Besides Sanjay Dutt in the lead, performances from Arshad Warsi, Gracy Singh, Jimmy Shergill, Boman Irani and Rohini Hattangadi were equally praised. This character still strike a chord with the Indian audience today. From being rejected by the four superhit stars to becoming a cult classic and a refining moment in Sanjay Dutt's career, this movie is proof that what's written in the fate can never slip away from you.

'He is not a method actor, but...': Priya Bapat reveals Nawazuddin Siddiqui's working style in Costao

Priya Bapat, a famous and known face in Marathi cinema, is making all the noise in the Hindi industry. Priya, who first appeared with a brief role in Munna Bhai M.B.B.S in Hindi cinema, has established herself as one of the renowned actors on OTT with shows like City of Dreams, Rafuchakkar, Raat Jawaan Hai, and more. Priya's recent project Costao has finally hit the OTT platform Zee5 Global. The actress is sharing the screen with the very versatile Nawazuddin Siddiqui. In a recent conversation with Priya opened up about her experience sharing the screen with Nawaz and how he is not a method actor but someone who has his own unique ways to work. When Priya was asked about her experience working with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and her learnings, the actress said, 'First of all, he is very cooperative. Not just that, he is extremely down to earth and humble. Maine ek bhi din Nawaz sir ko van mein baithe hue nahi dekha hai. Like, he would always come and sit with us on the set. He would rehearse multiple times, and then he would just do a marking rehearsal and go for a take, because he doesn't want to lose that naturality of the character and the scene. Also, he is very punctual. I haven't seen a day when Nawaz sir would get late.' Take a look here: While talking about her learnings, Priya mentioned that Nawaz is someone who likes to improvise a lot. He is not that actor who would learn the script. Instead, he will read it, improvise it, and go for a shot. The Rafuchakkar fame also opened up about Siddiqui not being a method actor. She said, 'As much as I have seen his work, I thought he would be a method actor. But I realised that he has a different process. His method process is unique and like I said, he is a very free-flowing kind of person. Aise nahi lagta ki yeh bohot pre-decide karke aaye hain .' She further added, 'He is just very free-flowing and he also improvises a lot. So he has his own unique beauty. And, I think this is a very nice quality as it gives you honesty on screen. You don't really decide and then react in front of the screen, instead it's way more natural.' Meanwhile, the screenplay of Costao has been crafted by Bhavesh Mandalia and Meghna Srivastava, while the film is jointly produced by Vinod Bhanushali, Kamlesh Bhanushali, Shyam Sunder, Faizuddin Siddiqui, Bhavesh Mandalia, and Sejal Shah, under the banners of Bhanushali Studios, Bombay Fables Motion Pictures, and Side Hero Entertainment.
