Sharpsville restaurant reopens only a day after fire

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. (WKBN) — Just a day after a fire forced a popular Sharpsville restaurant to shut down, the place was right back in business on Friday. Crews were called to Muscarella's Italia Cafe on Main Street Thursday afternoon after a fire started in a restroom fan, and flames spread to some insulation in the ceiling. After some quick repairs and a thorough cleaning by staff, the restaurant was open again in time for the Friday lunch crowd. 'We had great help from our local community,' Co-Owner Tom Patton said. 'Donitelli Electric came in immediately to take care of the electrical issues, and Sump Brother Construction came in without question. They dropped what they were doing to get us done.' Patton tells us he and his brother opened Muscarella's back in 1992, but the building itself dates back to the years before World War II when it was a popular bar in the community. SHARPSVILLE, Pa. (WKBN) — Emergency crews responded to a fire at Muscarella's Cafe Italia in Sharpsville Thursday afternoon. Sharpsville Fire Chief Andy Totin said the restaurant was open, and smoke started coming from the men's restroom. Totin said the fire appears to have come from the exhaust fan in the ceiling. 'We got it out pretty quick once we got the water on it,' Totin said. 'It's just a good thing that happened during the day when there were people here and not the middle of the night.' It is unclear how many people were inside at the time of the fire, but there were customers. According to a Facebook post, the restaurant will be closed for the rest of the day Thursday.
