Princess Diana's "largest wardrobe auction": See which pieces will be up for sale

The "largest wardrobe auction" of clothes worn by Princess Diana is set to take place later this month. The auction, "Princess Diana's Style & A Royal Collection," will take place June 26 in Beverly Hills, California, and will feature over 200 garments and artifacts that showcase Diana's "enduring influence as a fashion icon and humanitarian," Julien's Auctions said. "This collection is not only the most comprehensive offering of her wardrobe ever presented, but also a tribute to her elegance, grace, glamour, and enduring spirit," said Martin Nolan, Julien's co-founder and executive director. "Each item is a window into a moment in history." The auction will also feature items once worn by the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen Mother and other members of the royal family, dating back to the 1800s. A portion of the money raised from the auction will go toward Muscular Dystrophy UK. Previous auctions from Diana's wardrobe broke records in 2023. City charity races set to raise £300k

Sold-out charity races completed by about 6,600 people on Sunday are on course to raise £300,000. The Bidwells Oxford 10k and junior 3k races were organised by Muscular Dystrophy UK, which has organised the event since 1982. It was inspired by local boy Daniel Cleaver, who had muscular dystrophy and died aged 12 in 1990, and Sunday's edition was attended by local schools and other fundraising teams. They included about 180 pupils from Oxford's Summer Fields School who completed the 3k (1.8 miles) and Red Watch from the city's Rewley Road fire station who completed the 10k (6.2 miles) in full kit. The firefighters, who also carried a 50kg casualty training mannequin, raised over £1,100 for Muscular Dystrophy UK and the Fire Fighters Charity. The 10k race was started by Tristan Boedts, 28, who has limb girdle muscular dystrophy (LGMD) and completed it last year. He completed Sunday's course in about two and a half hours, accompanied by family and friends. "This is a true community event, and we're delighted that it continues to grow, selling out in advance for a second year running," Jessie Keighley, Muscular Dystrophy UK's events manager, said. "The money raised will make a huge difference, helping us to continue funding ground-breaking research and supporting those living with muscle wasting and weakening conditions." Health Secretary Neil Gray facing fury over failure to deliver muscular dystrophy drug

Families say they are in a race against time to slow their children's symptoms. Health Secretary Neil Gray has been furiously condemned for failing to ensure access to a new muscular dystrophy drug for desperate children. About 30 boys with a rare form of the killer disease could have their lives extended by givinostat. ‌ It slows progress of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) but patients in Scotland have not been able to get the drug despite manufacturers offering it for free on an early access programme. ‌ Gray met with families in April and promised the treatment - which is available in England - would be provided. But since then they say there has been no progress in what is a race against time to slow the progress of a disease. Lawyer Aamer Anwar, who is representing families, said: 'The families I represent cannot believe that whoever is responsible could be so cruel- the hope they were given has been shattered, they are lied to and now there is radio silence from Neil Gray whilst he enjoys the sun. 'In over 30 years of campaigning I have never seen a more callous and cruel treatment of desperate young people. 'Both the Scottish Government and the NHS Scotland management have no conscience that is sadly very clear. 'There are no plans to deliver anything in May, that was just said to reduce the pressure. ‌ 'What exactly does Gray need to act - a dead child, a child no longer able to walk, a child unable to breathe. 'Neil Gray put the politics and law aside - I appeal as a father, to you as a father of four children, to act now before it's too late.' Andy Fletcher, chief executive of Muscular Dystrophy UK, has also backed calls for the Scottish Government to urgently deliver givinostat. ‌ DMD has a life expectancy of just 26 and sees patients lose their mobility until they can't even breathe. Michael Rankin, 12, from Haddington, East Lothian, said: 'Every second they don't get this through, one person might not be able to walk again.' About 200 children in Scotland have DMD, an incurable condition affecting boys. There are thought to be less than 30 children suitable for the givinostat early access scheme in Scotland. Gray said: 'I have asked each health board for a summary of how they will facilitate access to Givinostat through the Early Access Programme and will be able to update the families shortly.'
