Cedar Park officially named a ‘Music Friendly Texas Certified Community'
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Texas Music Office (TMO) officially designated Cedar Park as a 'Music Friendly Texas Certified Community.' Gov. Greg Abbott announced that a ceremony celebrating the designation will be held in early May, according to a release from the Texas Governor's Office. RELATED: City of Lockhart named 'Music Friendly Texas Certified Community' The ceremony will be co-hosted by TMO and the city of Cedar Park on Friday, May 2, at 7 p.m. at Lakeline Park during the Live at Lakeline Concert Series. The Music Friendly Texas Certified Community designation is awarded to Texas cities that complete a multi-step certification process. The designation aims to promote economic growth and job creation in Texas cities and communities through the development of the music industry, the release said. 'Music Friendly Texas Communities work tirelessly to attract and develop the local music industry to boost local job creation and economic growth. With support from the Texas Music Office, the Texas music industry accounts for 196,000 direct and indirect permanent jobs and generates over $31 billion in annual economic activity statewide,' Abbott said, in part, in a statement. City officials and community leaders will attend Friday's ceremony. The designation will be presented to the city of Cedar Park by Community Relations Specialist Janie Havel of the Governor's Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office on behalf of the TMO. Graham earns title as Music Friendly Texas Certified Community
GRAHAM (KFDX/KJTL) — Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that the Texas Music Office designated Graham a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community on Tuesday, April 8. 'It is a great honor to have Graham designated as a Music Friendly Texas Community,' Graham Mayor Alex Heartfield said in a press release. 'Our Visit Graham Texas team and Graham Municipal Auditorium Board have worked tirelessly through the years to bring high-profile, quality musical entertainment to Graham that attracts not only local interest but also tourists to our area.' According to the press release from the Governor's office, 'The Music Friendly Texas program seeks to foster music business-related economic development and job creation in Texas cities and communities.' TMO and Visit Graham will host The Music Friendly Texas Community Certification Ceremony on April 12 at the 9th Annual Crawfish and Cannons Festival at Fort Belknap. That event begins at 1:30 p.m. The dedication makes Graham the 79th city in Texas to become a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community and the first community in Texoma to receive the certification.
