Nandamuri Balakrishna: Legendary Career
Balakrishna was born in Madras to NT Rama Rao, the iconic Telugu actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, and his wife, Basavatarakam. Growing up in Madras, he was exposed to the Telugu film industry, which ultimately motivated him to seek a career in acting.
At the age of 14, he appeared in his father's feature film 'Tatamma Kala" in 1974 as a child artist.
Balakrishna saw a huge success in the 1980s with a number of hits, including Sahasame Jeevitham (1984), Mangammagari Manavadu (1984), Apoorva Sahodarulu (1986) and Muvva Gopaludu (1987). These movies not only made him a household name but also brought him critical acclaim.
Balakrishna has won several significant honours for his outstanding performances. He has won three Nandi Awards for Best Actor for his exceptional performances in Legend (2014), Simha (2010) and Narasimha Naidu (2001).
He won the 2014 Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his performances in Aditya 369, Gauthamiputra Satakarni, Muvva Gopaludu, Simha, Sri Rama Rajyam and Narasimha Naidu.

His noteworthy roles include Vemulawada Bheemakavi in the 1976 film Vemulawada Bheemakavi, Abhimanyu in the 1977 film Daana Veera Soora Karna, Krishnadevaraya in the 1991 film Aditya 369, and Gautamiputra Satakarni in his 100th film, Gautamiputra Satakarni (2017). Balakrishna hails from a family with a long history in politics and has been affiliated with a regional party since its founding. He participated in several elections as a campaigner for the party, but he did not officially enter politics until 2014.

He made his official political debut in 2014 when he ran for the Telugu Desam Party as an MLA from the Hindupur constituency. Balakrishna was re-elected in 2019 and 2024 as an MLA from the same constituency and carried out several welfare initiatives with success.
