Limited-Run C8 Corvette Takes The Shape Of An F-18 Fighter Jet
Read the full story on Backfire News They say money can't buy taste and one could argue that's the case with the Maverick, a C8 Corvette modified to look like an F-18 fighter jet. Dreamed up by startup tuning shop Mxtrem Automobil, this falls into the outlandish custom build category where people with a lot of money (some would argue too much) have their cars modified in some rather gaudy to a carbon-fiber body kit, the C8 Corvette gains pieces inspired by the F-18. For example, the front fascia sure looks like the nose of the airplane, the rear fenders have a wing-like appearance, and the rear fascia is loaded up with fake afterburners, missiles, and vertical stabilizing fins. Even the cabin gets a bizarre aeronautical treatment. The controversial squared-off steering wheel is replaced by a yoke, something you can get in a Tesla these days. In the center console is a flight stick, although we're not quite clear on its function. There are switches similar to what you would find in a jet. Plus, in the middle of the seat is a handle which very closely resembles the ejection handle on a fighter jet. At least, these are the details shown in renderings to get buyers interested. Mxtrem has made it clear each Maverick will be a bespoke build, down to the details, so you get to call the shots on these and other design cues. A mere 12 Mavericks will be built. Buyers will be able to elect to have a Stingray, Z06, or E-Ray used as the base vehicle. While it's clear there are plenty of cosmetic modifications done to the sports car, we don't know if he Maverick will have any performance upgrades. Either way, we expect this to be a rather expensive purchase. And yet we don't think Mxtrem will have trouble finding people with plenty of money to burn on something like this. We're just looking forward to seeing one of these cross the auction block one day as people stare in horror at what was made back in 2025. Images via Mxtrem

This Tuner Reimagined the Chevrolet C8 Corvette as a Fighter Jet on Wheels
The cockpit is far from the only fighter jet-inspired flourish on this Chevrolet C8 Corvette. Mxtrem Automobil has just unveiled the Maverick, its heavily modified take on the latest iteration of the iconic sports car. And while it's clear the tuner's first build is based on the C8, it also looks more like an F-18 than something you'd expect to see on the highway. More from Robb Report This All-Electric Chevy Blazer Prototype Is a 1,300 HP Ode to NASCAR The New Chevrolet C8 Corvette ZR1 Keeps Setting New Speed Records The First C8 Corvette ZR1 Just Sold for $3.7 Million It may not look as cartoonish as the Lamborghini Diablo-based Beast, but it seems likely that the Maverick will be one of the more over-the-top custom jobs we see in 2025. Mxtrem has taken the eighth-generation 'Vette's already aggressive design and turned every element up to 11 with an absurd carbon-fiber body kit. Particularly notable changes include the front fascia, which has been refashioned so that it like the nose of a fighter jet, and the rear fenders, which have been reimagined as wings. But the biggest changes can be found at the back of the car, where the rear end has been outfitted with a pair of vertical stabilizers and a set of faux afterburners and missiles. Mxtrem's handiwork isn't limited to the exterior. The two-seater's cabin has also been given a makeover. From the beginning, Chevy hasn't hidden that the C8's cockpit was designed to look like that of a fighter jet, but the tuner has chosen to take things to another level. That includes adding a yoke-style steering wheel and equipping the center console with a flight stick. The driver's seat even also features a grip that we can only assume is meant to resemble an ejection seat handle. And don't worry if there's a feature you think is missing. The shop says it will work with customers to ensure the vehicle, inside and out, meets their specific desires. Mxtrem's website is curiously short on technical details. It does say that customers can choose between a C8 Stingray, Z06, or hybrid-powered E-Ray as their donor vehicle. That suggests that the build will make up to 655 hp. Performance numbers also aren't available, but we're going to go out on a limb and say the Maverick won't be able to still accelerate from zero to 60 in 2.5 seconds. Eager to add a fighter jet on wheels to your collection? Mxtrem is now taking orders for the custom C8, which it says will be limited to just 12 units. No price has been mentioned, but we imagine it won't come of Robb Report The 2024 Chevy C8 Corvette: Everything We Know About the Powerful Mid-Engine Beast The World's Best Superyacht Shipyards The ABCs of Chartering a Yacht Click here to read the full article.

Mxtrem's Insane Maverick Corvette Is a Fighter Jet-C8 Mashup
April Fool's Day is a little over a month away, so for the moment, let's act as though the Mxtrem Maverick is a real vehicle. Mxtrem claims that they will build 12 of these fighter jet-esque cars for collectors who the company deem worthy of owning such a thing. The Maverick will be based on the C8 Corvette; the new owner will have a choice of using a Corvette Stingray, Corvette Z06 or Corvette E-Ray as the basis for the build. Let's start with who or what Mxtrem is. The truth is... we don't really know. Their Instagram page has been active for just one day, as of this story's publication, and has only five posts– all are about the Maverick. Their website has no information about the company; also missing are any technical details about the Maverick. But it does have plenty of car renderings. Mxtrem describes the car as a 'bold fusion of a fighter jet and a sports car, redefining expectations of what a car can look like.' They're right about that. Most cars don't have mock AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles and turbojet thrusters on them. The interior is just as extreme; the steering wheel has been replaced with a yoke and there is a flight stick that would be used to control... well, considering it's mounted where the cupholders are in a regular C8 'Vette, we can't think of anything it would control. Mxtrem claims that each Maverick will be built to customer specifications, and no two will be the same. And if you want to be one of those customers, you will need to be vetted by the Mxtrem team as if you were trying to buy a Ford Mustang GTD. There's a form on the Mxtrem website if you want to inquire about a Maverick: you'll need to supply information about the cars in your current collection, how long you keep them — and, of course, your social media presence. Apparently, they don't want just anyone driving around thinking they're Tom Cruise.
