In his final year with the team in 2013, Jones racked up 79 receptions for 1,356 yards and secured first-team All-Mountain West honors as a wide receiver, according to the outlets. He also played for the Canadian Football League's Montreal Alouettes in 2016 and coached with the Alouettes and the College of Idaho, per USA Today. Former San Jose State standout wide receiver Chandler Jones, who holds school records for catches and receiving touchdowns, died over the weekend at 33, the school announced Monday. According to MyNewsLA, Jones died in a traffic accident in Los Angeles involving a Toyota Rav4. Per the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 2 a.m. local time on Sunday. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene. Jones, who played at San Jose State from 2010-13, finished with 248 receptions and 29 touchdown grabs in 50 career games. An honorable mention All-American in 2013, he ranks second in Spartans history with 3,087 receiving yards. After his playing career, which included a stint in the Canadian Football League, Jones spent time on the Spartans' coaching staff as a graduate assistant. He also coached in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes as their assistant defensive backs coach in 2023-24.
