Hundreds of flags part of program honoring heroes in Lebanon County
MYERSTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) — Quite a sight along Route 422 in Myerstown — hundreds of American flags in honor of those who served.
This is part of the annual Flags for Heroes event.
About 200 American flags are set up outside Frieden's Lutheran Church.
An opening ceremony was held Saturday where organizers said it's a way to remember local heroes.
'It's not a phrase taken lightly in this area, probably everywhere but especially in this area,' Denise Thomas with the Myerstown-ELCO Rotary Club, said. 'It's important we remember and acknowledge our past heroes and our current heroes. Without our local heroes, without our military, without the EMS, the firefighters, the community would be hurting.'
