Collector emphasises tourist amenities and safety measures ahead of Yercaud summer festival

District Collector R. Brindha Devi has directed officials to ensure that all basic amenities for tourists in Yercaud are fully functional and continuously monitored. Ahead of the 48th Yercaud Summer Festival and Flower Show, scheduled from May 23 to 29, the Collector inspected preparations on Monday, including the boathouse, Anna Park, and Botanical Garden. She emphasised the need for adequate drinking water, parking facilities, dustbins, and toilets at key tourist spots. Highlighting Yercaud's continued appeal as a popular summer hill station, she said the festival will feature a flower show with 1.5 lakh blooms, along with fruit and vegetable exhibitions at Anna Park. To promote wildlife conservation, themed floral installations will depict wild animals, the Mettur Dam, and other designs. Over 25,000 potted plants will also be showcased. Various departments will host competitions, and the week-long festival will include cultural programmes, music performances, pet shows, and boat races. To raise road safety awareness among tourists along the Yercaud ghat road, the Transport Department has initiated a campaign featuring awareness banners and wall advertisements. The Collector has urged tourists to maintain cleanliness, follow traffic rules, and adhere to district guidelines during the festival. N. Ponmani, Additional Collector (Development), District Rural Development Agency, and other officials were present during the inspection.
