Binghamton Fire holding raffle to benefit Gaudet family
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Binghamton Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of their own by raising money to support the family he tragically left behind.
40-year-old John 'JR' Gaudet died while fighting a second-alarm fire at 1 Main Street late Wednesday night. While battling the flames, a Mayday call was sent out for three firefighters trapped inside, one of whom was Gaudet. Two of the firefighters were taken to Wilson Hospital after being pulled from the building and are currently in stable condition. Gaudet, who was also taken to Wilson Hospital, was pronounced dead upon arrival. According to a press release, Gaudet died after a wall collapsed on him while fighting the fire.

On Friday, the Binghamton Fire Department announced that The Yard Foundation is having a raffle to benefit Gaudet and his family. Participants will have the chance to win a Cairns N5A BLACK leather fire helmet in a size large.
Proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to the Gaudet family to support JR's wife and three children.
Raffle tickets are $33 and can be purchased from now until February 15. There are unlimited spots available. The winner will be announced on Facebook live.
