Former Flyer Toumani Camara named to NBA All-Defensive Second Team
PORTLAND, Oregon (WDTN) – Former UD men's basketball forward Toumani Camara was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team on Thursday. The former Flyers star becomes the first Trail Blazers player to earn all-defensive honors in 21 years. The last to claim the award was Theo Ratliff in 2003-04. Camara received six first-team votes and 62 second-team votes in the selection process. After two seasons in Dayton, the 2023 second-round pick earned the honor in his second season with Portland. He led the NBA in charges drawn (31) and offensive fouls drawn (90). He ranked second in defensive stops (257) and ninth in steals (116). Camara was also the Western Conference Defensive Player of the Month and finished ninth in Defensive Player of the Year voting.
