Kevin Garnett And Girlfriend Involved In Domestic Dispute In Los Angeles Apartment

Kevin Garnett was recently involved in a domestic dispute in his Los Angeles residence. His girlfriend, Teare Candelier, was the one who made the call to the cops on April 27, and the couple has since released a joint response regarding the situation. Law enforcement sources told TMZ Candelier called 911 just before 2 a.m. that night after the 'escalated' argument. Cops took a report upon arrival although the retired NBA star had left the premises by that time. Candelier refused medical care. In a joint statement to the outlet released Sunday (May 4), the two expressed contrition for the events that occurred and said they would have rather not gotten police involved. 'We deeply regret that a personal disagreement escalated and inappropriately involved authorities. It was never our intention to involve others in a moment that should have remained private,' it read. They then assured they were ready to move on from the situation in private. 'Like most couples, we have disagreements, but our commitment to each other remains strong, and we move forward with renewed respect, understanding, and love,' the statement concluded. According to New York Post, the argument never got physical besides when Garnett 'moved Candelier out of the way of the doorway.' Nicknamed 'the Big Ticket,' Garnett is widely regarded as one of the best professional basketball players of all time. He is a 15x NBA All-Star and one of five NBA players to have won both the NBA Most Valuable Player Award and the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award. The 48-year-old most famously played for the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Boston Celtics, and also went to the Brooklyn Nets before returning to the Wolves prior to retiring. Although his professional basketball career came to an official end in 2016, he is still commentating on the game he loves via KG Certified, his current show with Paul Pierce. Draymond Green finishes third in NBA Defensive Player of the Year voting

Draymond Green finishes third in NBA Defensive Player of the Year voting originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area Draymond Green's bid for a second NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award came up short. Advertisement The Warriors forward finished third in DPOY voting, losing out to Cleveland Cavaliers center Evan Mobley, the NBA announced Thursday. Atlanta Hawks wing Dyson Daniels finished in second place behind Mobley and Green. Green, 35, received 15 first-place votes, 20 second-place votes and finished with 154 total points, coming up short to Mobley's 285 points and Daniels' 197 points. Green made a strong push to reclaim the top defensive honor, capturing the Western Conference's Defensive Player of the Month Award in March. In 68 regular-season games, Green averaged 9.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks in 29.2 minutes. Advertisement Green openly campaigned for himself over the season's final few months, and it almost paid off. Green spoke to NBC Sports Bay Area's Monte Poole and Kerith Burke in late March about what a second DPOY award would mean to him. 'It would mean the world to me; you know I pride myself on the defensive end,' Green told Poole and Burke. 'I think to be acknowledged as the best defender in this league is no small feat. It's something that, I never pride myself on winning awards, but they never hurt the ego and they don't hurt the pockets. But most importantly, even more so than that, I think all the hard work you put in to try and stay at an elite level, and to be recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year at 35, eight years after first doing it, it takes a lot of work and a lot of effort to have that type of longevity.' As unlikely as Green's first DPOY was in 2016-17, he understood how much more profound winning it eight years later would have been. Advertisement 'To even be mentioned in that conversation, to me, is special,' Green said. 'Obviously, I want to win it, but it's not something that's totally in my control … When I started to see my name pop up in the conversation, I was like, 'Wow, I really have a chance to do this.' 'And I came into this season, for the last couple years I've been kind of priding myself on that. Like, 'I want to win another one. I want to win another one.' But obviously you have to have success as a team and just to find that success, put myself in the conversation. At worst, I want to make [All-Defensive First Team] and if I can put myself in the conversation to be DPOY, I think that would be crazier than winning the first one.' Warriors coach Steve Kerr, on numerous occasions, has called Green the best defensive player he has ever been around, but the four-time NBA champion still has just one Defensive Player of the Year Award on his resume. Jimmy Butler, Warriors look to maintain momentum vs. Raptors

March 20 - The Jimmy Butler trade continues to pay dividends for the Golden State Warriors, who are 15-3 since acquiring the six-time All-Star from the Miami Heat on Feb. 6. The Warriors (40-29) are poised to resume their climb up the Western Conference standings when they face the Toronto Raptors (24-45) on Thursday in San Francisco. With Stephen Curry resting, Butler had 24 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds in Golden State's 104-93 home win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday. Curry is expected to return for Thursday's contest. Butler's presence has created scoring opportunities throughout the lineup for Golden State. Brandin Podziemski scored 17 points against Milwaukee and Buddy Hield added 15 points off the bench. "It's why (Butler) is who he is," Warriors forward Draymond Green said. "He commands so much attention. For us, that's great because he's allowing everybody else to get in their spots where they're comfortable and either get layups or open jump shots." Butler is averaging 17.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 6.1 assists in 17 games since joining the Warriors, who hold the sixth seed in the West. Green has also played a key role in Golden State's surge while making a strong case for his second NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award. Green helped limit Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo to 20 points on 5-of-16 shooting on Tuesday and has a combined nine blocks in his past two games. "Draymond, that defense tonight on Giannis was incredible," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. "To hold him to five field goals, Draymond showed why he is still one of the great defenders in the world. It wasn't just the defense; it was the leadership, the energy." Golden State is looking for a split of the season series after Toronto earned a 104-101 victory when the teams met in Canada on Jan. 13. The Raptors fell to 8-25 on the road with a 129-89 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Monday. Scottie Barnes had 16 points and Immanuel Quickley added 15 for short-handed Toronto, which played without RJ Barrett (illness), Gradey Dick (right knee bruise) and Jakob Poeltl (rest). Forward Jonathan Mogbo returned after missing six games with a back contusion and had two points, six rebounds and two assists in 27 minutes. The Raptors struggled to keep pace with Phoenix while using their 30th starting lineup of the season. Toronto finished shooting 35.6 percent from the field and 28.6 percent (10 of 35) from 3-point range. "It's been awhile since we've had a game like this," Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic said. "All we've got to do is forget this one, fill the cup, bring the energy for the next one and continue competing. I don't want to make any conclusions based on one poor performance here tonight." One bright spot in the loss was the play of center Orlando Robinson, who had 12 points and eight rebounds in 21 minutes off the bench. The 24-year-old recorded three straight double-doubles earlier this month and has fit in well with the rebuilding Raptors. "I love my teammates; they're all nice and funny guys," Robinson said. "As a unit we just love competing. We're all young, running around, guarding teams. We take joy in that. We feed off each other."
