BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Baton Rouge rapper NBA Youngboy was pardoned by President Donald Trump. NBA Youngboy, or Kentrell Gaulden, took to social media about his pardon by President Trump. 'I want to thank President Trump for granting me a pardon and giving me the opportunity to keep building, as a man, as a father and as an artist.' This moment means a lot. It opens the door to a future I've worked hard for and I am fully prepapred to step into this. Big thanks to the Pardon Czar, Ms. Alice Marie Johnson, for fighting for second chances for so many people, and to my lawyer, Brittany K. Barnett, for being in my corner and all you hard work to make this possible. And thank you to everyone who believed in me. I'm grateful. I'm focused. I'm ready.' Kentrell Gaulden On Dec. 10, 2024, Gaulden was sentenced to under two years in a federal prison on gun-related charges. As part of his plea agreement, additional charges for possession of a firearm not registered with the National Firearms Registry were dropped in March 2024. After being released in March 2025, Gaulden was moved from a federal prison in Alabama to a Residential Reentry Management facility in Arizona. The 25-year-old artist begins his 'MASA' tour in Dallas on Sept. 2. The tour's finale is scheduled for a two-day show in New Orleans at the Smoothie King Center on Sunday, Oct. 19, and Monday, Oct. 20. On this go-round, the 'Bandit' rapper will play arenas all over North America on his 31-concert 'MASA Tour' otherwise known as 'Make America Slime Again.' Advertisement While out and about, the Baton Rouge native is scheduled to headline in both New York and New Jersey. First up, he hits Brooklyn's Barclays Center on Saturday, Sept. 27. Since the release of his 2016 breakthrough mixtape '38 Baby' — recorded when he was just 16 — he's fathered 12 children, served a house arrest sentence for federal gun charges and scored countless hits including 'Bandit,' 'Make No Sense' and 'Wusyaname' on his 21 mixtapes, seven studio albums and three EPs he's released over his nearly decade-long career. Craziest of all, NBA Youngboy didn't think a tour — let alone a future where he wasn't incarcerated — was possible as recently as a year ago. 'I'm kinda set on going to jail right now,' YoungBoy said in a January 2024 interview with Bootleg Kev. 'So, I don't really think about too much. I guess that's just my life. I don't let it bother me or no s— like that. You make the bed you lay in.' NBA Youngboy announces return to the stage with first arena tour after years of legal setbacks

Rapper NBA Youngboy is making a long-awaited return to the stage with his first arena headlining tour, set to begin in September 2025. The MASA Tour 2025: NBA Youngboy's long-awaited comeback , born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, will kick off his arena tour on September 2, 2025, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The 27-city run concludes on October 19 at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, bringing him full circle back to Louisiana. The tour marks his first full-length concert series in five years. Joining him on the road are special guests DeeBaby, EBK Jaaybo, and K3—a lineup fans are already buzzing about. Tickets go on sale to the general public on May 22, following an artist pre-sale. Speaking ahead of the announcement, Youngboy said, 'It feels good to be back in the spotlight and to finally perform for my fans after all this time.' His words reflect the significance of this tour, not just professionally, but personally. NBA Youngboy's legal troubles and road to redemption Though his music has never lost relevance, NBA Youngboy's life offstage has been dominated by courtroom drama. In an effort to escape the legal complications tied to his hometown of Baton Rouge, he moved to Huntsville, Utah, a place he once visited as a teen to see an AmeriCorps counselor who had mentored him. But even there, controversy found its way. In November 2024, Youngboy pleaded guilty to participating in a prescription drug fraud scheme run from his Utah home. According to a report by XXL, Youngboy is slated for release on July 27, 2025, just weeks before the MASA Tour begins. He will remain under 60 months of supervised release, adding a layer of scrutiny as he prepares for life back on the road. Despite these hurdles, Youngboy has kept fans engaged with new music. His latest single, 'Shot Callin',' gives listeners a taste of what's to come during the tour—and suggests that he's still got plenty to say. Also Read: 'I'm here to perform for my fans, and that's what matters right now,' he told reporters during the tour's reveal. Whether this marks a true turning point or just a pause in a turbulent chapter remains to be seen. But for now, fans can look forward to a powerful return from one of hip-hop's most complicated and compelling voices.
