NEET PG 2025 not before this date of August? Here's what NBEMS told the Supreme Court
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has informed the Supreme Court that it will not be able to conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2025 before August 3, according to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Supreme Court advocate Satyam Singh Rajpoot. Rajpoot, who represents the United Doctors Front (UDF), stated in his post that NBEMS, in its affidavit to the court, mentioned August 3 as the earliest feasible date to conduct the exam in a single-shift format across all centres, given the massive scale of operations involved. Here is the X post made by advocate Satyam Singh Rajpoot: This proposal by NBEMS comes in after the Supreme Court's ruling to scrap the two-shift format and conduct the NEET PG exam in a single shift owing to fairness concerns. Why did SC bar two-shift format for NEET PG? The Supreme Court's ruling came after multiple petitions were filed by medical aspirants and the UDF. The petitioners argued that a two-shift format could lead to discrepancies in difficulty levels across question sets, undermining the fairness and credibility of the exam. Represented by SC advocate Satyam Singh Rajpoot, UDF emphasized that such a system would disadvantage candidates based solely on the shift they were assigned. Agreeing with these concerns, the Bench observed that conducting the exam in two shifts would be 'arbitrary' and that the principle of uniformity in evaluation would be violated. On May 30, the court formally directed NBEMS to conduct NEET PG 2025 in a single shift to uphold the integrity of the exam process. NBEMS suggests new date for NEET PG 2025 In compliance with the court's directive, NBEMS has proposed a new exam date. The board explained that rescheduling was essential to make arrangements for conducting the test in a single shift for all aspirants across the country. Conducting NEET PG in a single shift is a massive undertaking, requiring the coordination of over 1,000 exam centers in more than 250 cities and the deployment of around 60,000 personnel including invigilators, technical staff, and security. NBEMS stated that maintaining exam integrity while accommodating a large number of candidates in a synchronized, single session necessitates significant preparation. It also stressed that ensuring adequate facilities, safety protocols, and smooth delivery of question papers nationwide takes time and cannot be rushed. The Supreme Court is currently reviewing NBEMS's affidavit and is expected to take a final call on the proposed date. Meanwhile, the board has urged candidates to keep checking its official website for further announcements related to the new examination schedule. Ready to navigate global policies? Chandigarh: Students welcome one-shift NEET PG exam, fear delay
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2025 has been postponed indefinitely, leaving over 2 lakh aspiring medical students across the country in limbo. The exam, initially scheduled for June 15, will now be held on a later date, following a Supreme Court order issued on May 30. The postponement has been made to make arrangements for holding NEET (PG) '25 in one shift. While many students have welcomed the move to hold the exam in a single shift to ensure fairness, the delay is causing significant stress and tension. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) announced the postponement on Monday, stating that it was necessary to make arrangements for a single shift exam this year with more efficient infrastructure and security systems. Manav, a first-time NEET PG aspirant, said, 'It is a big relief that the exam is happening in a single shift. We are quite happy about it. But the indefinite postponement of the exam causes a serious harm to our morale as we are directionless for now. It is a distressing scenario to be in.' 'Conducting the exam in one shift would eliminate the discrepancies that arose in previous years, where the difficulty levels between the two shifts often varied. Two shifts bring in discrepancies,' he added. Avijit, a second-time aspirant from Panchkula, said, 'Last year, my exam was in the second shift and I found it to be more difficult than the first shift. The postponement has not impacted me much because I went through a similar situation last year. I was tense last year, especially when they postponed the exam just hours before it was supposed to begin.' A graduate from GMCH-32, Chandigarh, on condition of anonymity, said, 'I have mixed emotions regarding the postponement of the exam. Since the exam date and centre are not in my hands, I am focusing on my preparation.' Dr Vishnu Jinja, a core member of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), said, 'The decision to hold the exam in a single shift is going to benefit students. In double shifts, the difficulty level of the exam remains subjective, but with a single shift exam, all students will be assessed on the same level with more transparency in the system.'

NEET PG revised exam date expected to release soon: Check details here
NEET PG revised exam date 2025: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will release the fresh dates for the postgraduate medical entrance exam shortly on the official website. The NEET PG exam, initially scheduled for June 15, was postponed following a Supreme Court directive mandating that the examination be held in a single shift. The NBEMS postponed the exam to initiate large-scale logistical arrangements to comply with the court's ruling. Supreme Court calls for single-shift exam to ensure fairness The decision comes after the Supreme Court of India strongly objected to NEET PG being conducted in two shifts, labelling the practice as 'arbitrary' and 'unfair.' The Court underscored that normalisation mechanisms used to balance scores between shifts fail to ensure absolute fairness, particularly in a high-stakes examination that determines postgraduate medical admissions nationwide. Citing the need for uniformity and transparency, the apex court directed that NEET PG 2025 be held in a single session, providing equal conditions for all examinees. NBEMS faces logistical overhaul In light of the Court's directive, NBEMS is now faced with the monumental task of reorganising the national-level exam. Conducting NEET PG in a single shift requires the addition of nearly 900 new test centres across India. This expansion will also necessitate robust security measures, including the deployment of signal jammers and enhanced surveillance to maintain exam integrity. According to NBEMS, the extensive operational overhaul requires additional time, prompting the indefinite postponement of the examination. Revised schedule expected soon While the exact date for the rescheduled NEET PG 2025 exam remains pending, NBEMS has assured that a revised timetable will be published soon on its official portals — and This includes updates on the exam date, city intimation slips, and admit card release. The city intimation slips, which were originally slated to be released on June 2, have also been deferred. About NEET PG 2025 NEET PG 2025 is the qualifying entrance examination for medical graduates aspiring to pursue MD, MS, and PG Diploma courses in India. The exam is administered by NBEMS and serves as the gateway to postgraduate medical education across government and private institutions. Following the exam, qualified candidates participate in counselling sessions. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) oversees the counselling for 50% of All India Quota (AIQ) seats, while state counselling authorities handle the remainder. Advisory for candidates NBEMS has advised candidates to remain patient and focused on their preparation while awaiting the revised schedule. All aspirants are encouraged to rely on official NBEMS websites and other credible sources for verified updates and avoid rumours or misinformation circulating on other platforms. With the future of thousands of medical graduates hinging on the NEET PG results, the restructuring aims to provide a level playing field, a critical move in restoring credibility to India's medical entrance framework.
