The 516-mile route attracts thousands of tourists every year, but many still end up on the wrong side of the people living there.
There are constant rows erupting about the behaviour of tourists - especially about their bathroom habits.
A common gripe is that many decide to urinate in public spaces, as well as dumping and leaving their waste along the route.
Back in April last year, a report revealed that cases of people doing their business in laybys and elsewhere doubled in two years.

And one local in Achnasheen, Ross-shire, was left fuming after catching a man peeing on her garden fence rather than use a toilet.
The woman said she was even more shocked by the man's reaction after she confronted him about his behaviour.
The resident shared snaps of the culprit and posted them in the Facebook group NC500 The Dirty Truth as she appealed for help from other locals.
The post read: "Caught a guy urinating right up against my garden fence in Achnasheen.

"Confronted him, told him he's in full view of my house, and he can't do that there.
"I was expecting an apology, but instead he said, 'it's not your house here' (pointing to where he urinated), shrugged and walked off.

"I told him he needs to do it in a public toilet or discreet place, to which he replied, 'What are you going to do about it?'
"And he threatened me when I took a photo of his car. Delightful.

"I take it the police won't do anything if I reported them?"
Users quickly flocked to the comments to slam the tourist for their "disgusting" behaviour.
One person said: "Turn the hose on him next time!"
Another added: "He should've got a slap for that, disgusting."

Someone else wrote: "Total disrespect for the community and the place. Well done NC500 for bringing in and inflicting this detritus on the Northern Highlands."
And a fourth posted: "Then he'll be moaning about unfriendly locals. No wonder!"
While a fifth chimed in: "How can you be friendly to people that treat the countryside and its residents so appallingly?"

SCOTLAND'S ROUTE 66
DESPITE its challenges, the NC500 is still one of the most popular road trips in the world.
Earlier this year, the scenic route was voted the number one most searched for road trip in the UK and an astonishing fifth in the world-wide table.
With its impressive 516-mile stretch of magnificent coastal views, it's not surprising it's such a popular route for travellers looking to explore. From castles to distilleries there is something for everyone to enjoy.
It was also ranked as the most romantic drive in Britain after an influx of visitors took to the roads for 'staycations' in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic.
An English couple told how they loved the NC500 so much that they got it tattooed on their bodies forever.
While a couple who travelled the route in an Audi convertible told how it was "one of the best holidays" they've ever had.
A shock report revealed that visitors to the Scottish Highlands keep pooing outside and dishing out abuse to locals.
Rangers in the Highlands were forced to call in cops to deal with outbursts of extreme aggressive behaviour from tourists.
While they revealed that cases of people doing their business in laybys and elsewhere doubled in two years to hit almost 9,000.

Local Margaret Meek said: 'It's insane - the numbers are just staggering.
'People think it's a wilderness or a theme park and just a big free for all where they can do what they want.
'But it's not alright and they shouldn't be doing this. It's no longer tolerable. People who live here are fed-up.'
