No. 5 overall seed North Carolina beats Oklahoma 14-4 to win Chapel Hill Regional
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — Gavin Gallaher went 4 for 6 with two home runs and four RBIs to help No. 5 overall seed North Carolina beat Oklahoma 14-4 on Monday to win the Chapel Hill Regional. The Tar Heels (45-13) move on to host a best-of-3 super regional as one of the top eight remaining seeds. Hunter Stokely had a two-run double in the top of the first inning, and Alex Madera singled in a run as North Carolina scored three unearned runs off Reid Hensley (4-2) and never trailed. Drew Dickerson hit a two-run homer off Ryan Lynch in the second to get the Sooners within a run. That was it for Oklahoma until Jason Walk hit a solo shot in the seventh off reliever Walker McDuffie. North Carolina answered with four runs in the third behind RBI singles from Madera, Sam Angelo and Carter French for a 7-2 lead. Jackson Van De Brake had a two-run homer and Gallaher hit a solo shot in the eighth. Gallaher capped the scoring with a three-run homer in the ninth. Lynch (5-1) allowed two runs on five hits in five innings. McDuffie allowed two runs on two hits over the final four for his seventh save. North Carolina is making its 36th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Tar Heels have advanced to the College World Series 12 times — including last season — with back-to-back championships in 2006-07. Levu's 3-run HR helps UCLA beat UC Irvine 8-5 to sweep Los Angeles Regional
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Mulivai Levu hit a three-run home run, Dean West and Payton Brennan added two RBIs apiece and UCLA jumped to a big lead and then held on to beat UC Irvine 8-5 on Sunday night and win the Los Angeles Regional. UCLA (45-16) clinched its first trip to the super regionals since 2019. UC Irvine (43-17) beat Arizona State 11-6 in a loser-out game earlier Sunday. The Anteaters made back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time since they went to six straight tourneys from 2006-11. Roman Martin's RBI single off Finnegan Wall (0-1) in the first inning made it 1-0 and the Bruins led the rest of the way. Cashel Dugger hit a single in the second that drove in Brennan, who doubled to lead off the inning, and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Roch Cholowsky to make it 3-0. Dugger and Phoenix Call drew back-to-back walks to lead off the fourth and West followed with a bunt single to load the bases. Dugger scored on another sacrifice fly by Cholowsky and, after Levu's homer, Brennan added a sacrifice fly to make it 8-0. James Castagnola and Alonso Reyes each had an RBI for the Anteaters in the fourth, Anthony Martinez hit a two-run double in the fifth and Reyes hit a lead-off home in the sixth to cap the scoring. Chris Grothues (3-1) came on in relief of starter Wylan Moss with one out and the bases loaded in the fourth. Grothues got Reyes to groundout, driving in Martinez, and struck out Blake Penso to limit the damage. Easton Hawk pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his sixth save of the season. ___ AP college sports:

Caraway has HR, 4 RBIs to help Oregon St. beat USC 14-1, stay alive at Corvallis Regional
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Trent Caraway had a double, a home run, and four RBIs, Gavin Turley also hit a homer and Oregon State beat Southern California 14-1 at the Corvallis Regional on Sunday night. Oregon State (44-13-1) can win its second consecutive regional title with another win over the Trojans on Monday. The Beavers — who lost 6-4 to Saint Mary's Friday, then won games Saturday against TCU and earlier Sunday against Saint Mary's, avenging their opening-round loss by beating the Gaels 20-3 — have won three consecutive elimination games. Oregon State starter Wyatt Queen gave up back-to-back singles to lead off the fifth, walked Ethan Hedges to load the bases and struck out Bryce Grudzielanek before Kellan Oakes came on and struck out Adrian Lopez looking and then got Abbrie Covarrubias swinging to end the threat. Oakes (3-0) had four strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings before before Zach Kmatz struck out seven across three scoreless innings for his first save of the season. Wilson Weber and Caraway led off the second with back-to-back singles before a sacrifice bunt by AJ Singer moved both runners into scoring position. Weber scored on a bunt single by Canon Reeder, who was thrown out at second on a bunt by Dallas Macias, who reached on a fielder's choice to drive in Caraway. Tyce Peteron — who finished with four hits — had an RBI single up the middle Macias scored on a sacrifice bunt by Easton Talt to make it 4-0. Maximo Martinez had an RBI single in the second for USC (37-22). Brayden Dowd led off the first with a single but was thrown out at home when Hedges followed with a double. No. 10 overall seed Mississippi beats Murray State 19-8 to stay alive in Oxford Regional
OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Will Furniss hit two home runs, including the first of three straight in the fourth inning by 10th-overall seed Mississippi, and the Rebels rolled a 19-8 victory over Murray State on Sunday to force a showdown at the Oxford Regional. The Rebels (43-20) eliminated Georgia Tech with an 11-9 win earlier Sunday and need another win over the Racers on Monday to advance to the super regionals. Murray State (41-14) sent Ole Miss to the loser's bracket with a 9-6 victory in Friday's opener. Advertisement Furniss hit a two-run shot on the final pitch from starter Kane Elmy to ignite an eight-run third inning that saw the Rebels erase 3-2 deficit. Furniss, Judd Utermark and Isaac Humphrey began a five-run fourth with solo shots off reliever Reese Oakley to make it 15-4. Furniss had four hit and four RBIs. Mitchell Sanford had three singles, driving in three and scoring twice. Humphrey finished a single shy of hitting for the cycle. Austin Fawley had two hits and three RBIs. His two-run homer in the second got the Rebels off and running. Dustin Mercer three hits for Murray State with two doubles and two RBIs. Mississippi is making its 26th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Rebels have played in six College World Series and won it in their most recent appearance in 2022.
