Bahl boosts Huskers softball past #7 Tennessee 5-2 in Game 1 of best-of-three Super Regional
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (KCAU) – Huskers ace Jordy Bahl struck out six batters in a complete-game effort, adding one hit and a pair of runs at the plate to guide Nebraska past seventh-seeded Tennessee in the opening game of its best-of-three NCAA Tournament Super Regional. Nebraska scored the go-ahead run in the top of the third to take a 2-1 lead, following that up with a trio of runs in the top of the fourth to ultimately keep the game out of reach. Hannah Camenzind notched her tenth home run of the season to cap off the three-run frame in the top of the fourth. Game Two is set to take place on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. CT with the winner-take-all Game Three slated for Sunday, if needed. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Huskers softball excited for first Super Regionals appeareance since 2014
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (KCAU) – For the first time since 2014, Nebraska softball will play in the NCAA Tournament Super Regional after capturing the program's ninth regional title in Louisiana last weekend. Nebraska became quite familiar with the run-rule in regional play, taking down UConn 10-2 in six innings followed by a pair of wins against Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday. They're the first team in NCAA history to run-rule its way through regionals as a non-seeded team. During that stretch, the Huskers became the 11th team in NCAA History to record 100 or more doubles and homers in a season. For many on the roster, Super Regional play is a first and a moment they look to soak in. 'The postseason is a grind. At the very beginning of the regional, it seems like you're so far away from the World Series…and then three days later, there's only 16 teams left. On our journey we have one goal…it's not to make it to regionals or supers or make it to the World Series, it's to make it to the World Series,' Nebraska utility Jordy Bahl said. 'It's a blessing to be able to win a regional with this team, but we know the work is not done and we are just blessed to have the opportunity to be going to Knoxville.' The Huskers will take on Tennessee in the best-of-three series starting Friday at 6:00 p.m. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
