Supreme Court allows Trump to deport Venezuelans, but only after judges' review
(QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Trump administration to use an 18th century wartime law to deport Venezuelan migrants, but said they must get a court hearing before they are taken from the United States. In a bitterly divided decision, the court said the administration must give Venezuelans who it claims are gang members 'reasonable time' to go to court. NCDMVs expand hours as Real ID deadline looms But the conservative majority said the legal challenges must take place in Texas, instead of a Washington courtroom. The court's action appears to bar the administration from immediately resuming the flights that last month carried hundreds of migrants to a notorious prison in El Salvador. The flights came soon after Trump invoked the Alien Enemies Act for the first time since World War II to justify the deportations under a presidential proclamation calling the Tren de Aragua gang an invading force. Missing Endangered Alert: Man missing from Burke County
BURKE COUNTY, N.C. () — The public's help is requested in finding a missing man, according to the North Carolina Center for Missing Persons. A Missing Endangered Alert has been issued for 68-year-old Clifford John Tolbert, who is thought to be impacted by a cognitive impairment. Tolbert was last seen in the 4100 block of River Road in Burke County. He may be headed to Abington Road in Caldwell County, but it is possible he is traveling to a different location. NCDMVs expand hours as Real ID deadline looms Tolbert is described as a white man standing 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing 164 pounds. He is balding on the top but has long gray hair, typically in a ponytail. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeve button-up shirt, blue jeans, brown boots and clear-rimmed glasses tied with a shoestring. Tolbert may be driving a burgundy 2005 KIA Sorento with the NC license plate KBL-6317. The car may have damage to the driver's side.
