NCIS fans left feeling vindicated as two characters return in spin-off series
NCIS fans are celebrating the return of two fan favourite characters in a brand new spin-off series. Nine years after last appearing on-screen together, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo have reunited for their own project, playing Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David. The news follows Weatherly's special guest appearance in an episode paying tribute to David McCallum, the actor who played Dr Donald 'Ducky' Mallard in the long-running crime procedural. He died in September 2023. ADVERTISEMENT Advertisement When the project was announced, no title was set – but it's now been revealed the series will be called NCIS: Tony & Ziva. The show will reintroduce viewers to Tony and Ziva who, after last seeing each other in Paris, find themselves embroiled in a dangerous plot that causes them to go on the run with their daughter. NCIS fans are joyously responding to the trailer, with many long-time fans of the couple, nicknamed 'Tiva', feeling vindicated by the news. 'CBS has a lot of faith that the NCIS franchise still has plenty to offer. Looking forward to this one,' one fan wrote, with another adding: 'It's finally happening, I can't believe it.' ADVERTISEMENT Advertisement Others said the spin-off news has lured old viewers back in. 'Me? Watching NCIS again in the year 2024? 12 year old me is dying at this news,' one person wrote. 'How is this real? Are we in 2012 again?' another added. Speaking about the new show, Weatherly and de Pablo, who left the show in 2016, said: 'We've been talking about this story for many years, and now with John McNamara at the helm, we are ready. 'NCIS: Tony and Ziva' (Paramount+) 'The world of Tony and Ziva (and daughter Tali) promises to be an action-packed roller coaster fueled by love, danger, tears and laughter. We also want to acknowledge and thank the fans from around the world who supported the 'Tiva' movement for years. 'Given that the franchise is such a global sensation, I think it's phenomenal that CBS Studios and Paramount+ have given us the green light to shoot in Europe. As to the title of this series, if I told you what it is, I'd be violating the Espionage Act.' NCIS: Tony & Ziva, which will be released later this year, is not the only new spin-off to be commissioned; there will also be a prequel series focused on a young version of Gibbs (Mark Harmon).

First Look: Cote De Pablo And Michael Weatherly In ‘NCIS: Tony & Ziva' Trailer
The on-screen reunion of Chilean-American actress Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly as Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo - after more than 10 years - is almost here. Ahead of its premiere, Paramount+ has unveiled the official name of the NCIS spinoff and released the first trailer for its highly anticipated original series, NCIS: Tony & Ziva. The new series - first announced in February 2024 - picks up after Ziva's supposed death, which led Tony to leave the NCIS team and raise their daughter, Tali, alone. It turns out that years later, Ziva was discovered alive and completed one final mission with NCIS before reuniting with Tony and Tali in Paris. The family is now living together in Europe - until Tony's security company is attacked, forcing them to go on the run across the continent. As they try to uncover who is after them, Tony and Ziva must confront their past and learn to trust each other again, all while fighting to protect their daughter and secure their unconventional happily ever after. The two-minute trailer, which attracted thousands of views and likes within half hour of its upload, will have its broadcast debut during tonight's season 22 finale of NCIS on CBS. De Pablo starred as Ziva from season 3 to 8 and made a dramatic return in season 17. Her on-screen chemistry with Weatherly's Tony fueled the 'Tiva' phenomenon that captivated fans worldwide and led to their revival. The 10-episode series is the newest installment of the global NCIS franchise and will premiere this fall on Paramount+. John McNamara (Trumbo, The Magicians) serves as showrunner. McNamara is also executive producer, alongside de Pablo, Weatherly, Laurie Lieser, Christina Strain, Shelley Meals, and Mairzee Almas. The cast also features Amita Suman, Maximilian Osinski, Julian Ovenden, Nassima Benchicou, Lara Rossi, Isla Gie, Terence Maynard, and James D'Arcy. The series is produced by CBS Studios and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution. The couple briefly live the dream in Paris with Tony running his security company while they care for their 12-year-old daughter, Tali (Isla Gie). But their happily ever after gets blown apart, sending the family on the run throughout Europe in the action comedy series. Here's what we learned in the trailer, which will be aired officially during CBS' May 5 "NCIS" finale (9 ET/PT). See 'Tony & Ziva' first photos And teaser as 'NCIS' couple reunite with daughter Tali Tali is being tracked! The family cannot get past their "NCIS" past. Ziva explains to Tali why she needs a bodyguard. Despite the precautions, Tali is nearly kidnapped in broad daylight, setting the show in motion. Ziva breaks into her hidden weapons collection as the family is forced into action and on the run. "Have I ever told you how deeply I appreciate your paranoia?" asks Tony, eyeing Ziva's arsenal. Tiva is still not a defined relationship Even while raising their daughter in France, the famously on-again-off-again couple remains undefinable. Ziva tries to explain it as "on again, maybe again, kind of again and where we are now." And while on the run, Tony tells Ziva over a candlelight dinner that he could "never ask for a better safehouse roomie." There are laughs, action, and a kind of romance in Europe! So the whole "couple thing" is still a work in progress. Still, sparks of romance, action, car chases and fight scenes are glimpsed in the trailer. So is Tony, diplomatically negotiating peace at gunpoint rather than "a lot of shooting, a lot of pointless death. "Does that sound good to anybody?" Tony asks. We won't answer that question. When does 'Tony & Ziva' come to Paramount+? The series is scheduled for the fall. But Paramount+ has not revealed the exact release date. Stay tuned.

'We're back, Profilers!' the crime drama's Instagram announced in August 2024, while also sharing seven BTS photos from Season 18 — including a couple of looks at JJ Jareau's return to a side part hairstyle (seen above), which the well-tressed Special Agent last rocked as recently as Season 9 (one Twitter follower told me). With a premiere date and trailer now in hand, here is everything we know about Criminal Minds Season 18…. The BAU's elite team of profilers will again be comprised of Emily Prentiss (played by Paget Brewster), David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), 'JJ' Jareau (A.J. Cook), Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness), Dr. Tara Lewis (Aisha Tyler) and Luke Alvez (Adam Rodriguez). Also back for another go-round is Ryan-James Hatanaka as onetime person of interest Tyler Green (who last season was veritably deputized as an unofficial BAU helper), and Zach Gilford as captured serial killer Elias Voit. When the Paramount+ sequel series debuted in November 2022, a line of dialogue established that Matthew Gray Gubler's Spencer Reid and Daniel Henney's Matt Simmons have been away on an assignment. Given that little time has passed over the first two Evolution seasons, away on an assignment they both have stayed. Until now. As TVLine reported in mid-December, Gubler — who stars in the CBS drama pilot Einstein, which is waiting on a series order — will return to Criminal Minds for part of one Season 18 episode. Lucifer and Dexter alum Aimee Garcia has a multi-episode arc as Dr. Julia Ochoa, a leading neuropsychiatrist who is 'assigned to help a high-profile patient recover from his injury-induced brain trauma.' Is it me, or does that very much sound like she will be treating serial killer Elias Voit, who in the Season 17 finale was released to gen pop under a pseudonym and promptly took a brutal beating once word leaked out about who he really is…? Showrunner Erica Messer told TVLine that whereas not much time passed across Evolution's first two seasons, a full 'six months' will have passed when Season 18 opens. As indicated above by the news of Zach Gilford's return, 'we still have Voit in our life,' Messer said, but Season 18 promises to be 'a bit more hybrid…. This [next] season will feel a little different, where we're solving standalone 'Catch the Bad Guy' cases.' And though Voit is now behind bars, the BAU agents, after two seasons of cleaning up his murderous messes, 'don't come up for air,' Messer noted. 'It's different this season but it's still a lot. More things happen to this team, but it's a different kind of pace, a different exhaustion.' Criminal Minds Season 18 will span another 10 episodes, as did Evolution's first two cycles. Filming wrapped in mid-December 2024 on the new season, which will premiere Thursday, May 8 (with new episodes dropping weekly). Criminal Minds: Evolution fans got a big surprise last June, when Paramount+ renewed the long-running crime drama for Season 18 ahead of its Season 17 premiere. At the time that filming wrapped on Season 18, franchise vet Paget Brewster was bullish on getting even more cases to crack, sharing on social media, 'We are optimistic we'll get a Season 19.' Indeed, not three months later, Paramount+ officially greenlit Season 19, well ahead of Season 18's premiere date. A revival of CBS' long-running procedural, Criminal Minds: Evolution streams exclusively on Paramount+. The first two seasons dropped new episodes weekly, on Thursdays.
