Pakistani journalists clash, hurl tit-for-tat abuses inside London cafe
Pakistani journalists, Safina Khan and Asad Malik, clashed with each other and hurled tit-for-tat abuse targeting each other. While some people around them tried to defuse the tense scene, others recorded the ugly scene and shared it on social media. Safina Khan, associated with NEO News, has been levelling allegations against Asad Malik and other Pakistani journalists who work for ARY News and Hum News. Khan also alleged that they had 'ganged up' and 'threatened to kill' her. The incident reportedly occurred during a press conference held by Salman Akram Raja, considered a close aide of jailed former Pakistan prime minister and ex-cricketer Imran Khan. Khan also wrote about the incident on X stating, 'I have also received more evidence, in which there was a formal plan for this event to be used to abuse me, raise slogans and even physically harass me from the people of PTI, but due to my patience and wisdom, that plan flopped and after that, these reporters themselves came forward and abused me and I was harassed at the workplace. Whatever happens, happens for the best. I had been collecting evidence against them for a long time, and finally I found it.' Watch: Pakistani journalists hurl abuses at each other in London cafe
Both Pakistani journalists are based in London Abuses flew thick and fast as a verbal altercation broke out between two Pakistani journalists at a cafeteria in London last week. In videos which have gone viral on social media, journalists Safina Khan and Asad Malik targeted each other with the choicest of abuses while others tried to defuse the situation. Both Khan and Malik are based in the UK capital. While the trigger behind their verbal clash is not known, the video showed Khan calling Malik a "b*****d." As the clash went on, a man tried to calm them down, saying how both of them were from the media industry and therefore, should not behave like this in public. However, the argument continued, with the duo verbally abusing each other's family. Words such as "pig" were mentioned several times. At one point, both Malik and Khan got up from their seats, and had to be held back by others. The incident occurred during a press conference of Salman Akram Raja, the secretary secretary general of the Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf of Pakistan's jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Claim vs. counter-claim Khan, who is associated with Pakistan's NEO News, has alleged she was "harassed and abused" by Malik and his group. This was disputed by Malik, who said these were "false and baseless" allegations, which were "consistent with her pattern of past behaviour."

High drama in London: Pakistani journalists spark chaos at restaurant
A video widely circulating on social media shows two Pakistani journalists – Safina Khan and Asad Ali Malik – hurling abuses at each other at an eatery in London. Khan has alleged that Malik, along with other journalists from ARY News and Hum News, ganged up on her and 'threatened her'. Khan, who works at NEO News and serves as Secretary General of the Pakistan Press Club, London, also shared the purported video tagging the UK police, claiming she was harassed. The London-based journalist further stated that if anything were to happen to her, ARY News reporter Fareed and Hum News journalist Rafeeq should be held responsible. The alleged incident took place during media coverage of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja. In her post on X, Khan wrote: 'During Salman Akram Raja's coverage, I was harassed and abused by @MohsinnaqviC42 TV London reporter Asad Malik, joined by @ARYNEWSOFFICIAL reporter Fareed and @humnews_urdu @humnewspakistan reporter Rafeeq. They threatened to kill me.' In another tweet, Khan alleged that Naqvi and others were abusing Senator Journalist Azhar Javed's mother, and when she intervened, they began abusing her as well. "I heard someone's mother being abused — not for myself. There was no such thing as honour among these shameless men. The one who abused the mother of Senator Journalist Azhar Javed from Youth was being slapped while sitting down. When I could not tolerate the abuse of Azhar Javed's mother, how could I remain silent after hearing the abuse of my own mother?" she posted in Urdu. Responding to Khan's allegations, Malik denied the claims as 'baseless'. He also shared videos allegedly showing Khan using abusive language. 'These are false and baseless allegations, consistent with her pattern of past behaviour. The facts are clear and supported by multiple eyewitnesses,' he stated in a post on X. The exact reason for the altercation remains unknown. Khan, known for making anti-India statements, recently stirred controversy by showing disrespect to the Indian tricolour outside the Indian High Commission in London. This incident occurred during a pro-Khalistan protest against India's sanctions on Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack. First Published: 4 May 2025, 08:36 AM IST
