EMO Energy launches NEXO to integrate energy infrastructure for last-mile delivery

EMO Energy , a deep energy-tech startup supported by Gruhas, Subhkam, and Transition VC, has launched NEXO —an integrated energy ecosystem designed to reduce operating costs in last-mile delivery . The system combines solar power , energy storage, vehicle batteries, fast chargers, and energy management software into a single platform for use at dark stores. NEXO will first be deployed in 100 dark stores across Bengaluru and Delhi/NCR. EMO currently operates over 6,400 battery-powered vehicles and 900 fast chargers across more than 200 dark stores nationwide. Integrated system targets energy efficiency and cost reduction NEXO has been developed to address inefficiencies in India's EV energy infrastructure , which often relies on multiple vendors for batteries, charging infrastructure, and software. This siloed setup leads to compatibility issues and rising costs for delivery operators. 'As quick-commerce continues to scale, operating costs for players—across rent, manpower, and inventory—are bound to keep rising. Among these, energy remains the only controllable lever that can be optimised and can stabilise the operating cost for quick commerce players,' said Sheetanshu Tyagi, Co-founder and CEO of EMO Energy. 'Yet until now, most EV fleets have relied on fragmented energy stacks: third-party charging infra, separate battery vendors, and standalone health monitoring software—all of which function in silos, limiting compatibility and performance. NEXO addresses this gap with a fully integrated system, where every component of the energy supply chain—charging infrastructure, battery packs, software, and renewable energy inputs—are engineered to work in sync. This vertical integration has been tested to deliver 25 per cent energy saving and 40 per cent cost reduction at the dark store level,' he added. At the core of NEXO is EMO's AI-powered health and energy management software, SENS, which balances solar and grid inputs. The system includes ZenBase, a liquid-cooled battery energy storage system, and SWFT dual-gun fast chargers, each capable of supporting up to 20 riders per day. These work alongside the ZenPac 2 kWh liquid-cooled battery pack, which can achieve an 80 per cent charge in 20 minutes and is protected by 16 global patents. These components already support delivery fleets for clients such as Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, Bigbasket, and Domino's across 10 Indian cities. EMO projects that NEXO will enable 20,000 delivery rides per month at each dark store by the end of FY2026, with solar energy contributing at least 25 per cent of the total energy requirement and enabling full off-grid operations where needed.

Hyundai's hydrogen-powered NEXO SUV begins 2-year test run with IndianOil: Details

Hyundai's hydrogen-powered NEXO SUV begins 2-year test run with IndianOil. Hyundai Motor India has partnered with Indian Oil Corporation to begin real-world testing of its hydrogen-powered NEXO SUV in India. The move is part of a broader push to explore the practicality of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles for everyday use in the country. Under a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Hyundai has handed over one unit of the NEXO Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) to IndianOil. Over the next two years, the vehicle will undergo rigorous testing across Indian road conditions to assess its performance, durability, and operational reliability. The test run will span around 40,000 km. Alongside the performance evaluation, the two companies will conduct a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) study to understand the long-term maintenance and operational expenses of using hydrogen-powered vehicles in a real-world environment. This study will simulate the usage pattern of a private owner to provide a more accurate picture of potential running costs and benefits. Hyundai and Indian Oil Join Forces to Test Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles in India

Gurugram — Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has partnered with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IndianOil) to explore the feasibility of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCEVs) for mass adoption in India. The collaboration marks a significant step toward developing a sustainable hydrogen mobility ecosystem in the country. Under a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Hyundai handed over its NEXO hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle to IndianOil to begin a two-year on-road trial. The initiative aims to assess the vehicle's durability and performance under Indian driving conditions over a projected 40,000 km, alongside a detailed Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis. This will help determine the operational and maintenance costs involved in simulating private vehicle usage. 'This MoU reflects our commitment to future-ready mobility solutions,' said Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of HMIL. 'By joining hands with IndianOil, we aim to make green hydrogen an accessible and sustainable energy option. This collaboration is a key step in realizing the potential of hydrogen-powered transport in India.' IndianOil echoed Hyundai's vision, highlighting the strategic importance of hydrogen in the country's clean energy roadmap. 'Hydrogen fuel and fuel cell technology are critical to achieving India's net zero goals,' said Dr. Alok Sharma, Director (R&D) and Board Member at IndianOil. 'Our partnership with Hyundai will help generate real-world insights to advance the adoption of hydrogen mobility.' The initiative also ties into HMIL's broader strategy to support the development of India's green hydrogen sector. The automaker is working with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) to establish a Hydrogen Innovation Centre, a hub for startups and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to test and develop hydrogen technologies. With capabilities spanning ICE, CNG, Flex-Fuel, Hybrid, Electric, and Hydrogen propulsion, Hyundai is positioning itself as a global leader in next-generation mobility. Through this latest collaboration, HMIL and IndianOil aim to pave the way for a cleaner, more energy-secure future for India.
