How to buy 2026 FIFA World Cup tickets
(NEXSTAR) – The beautiful game is coming to the U.S., Mexico and Canada in 2026 and millions of fans from around the world will be looking to get their hands on tickets to watch the best players in the world. But with 6.5 million fans expected to attend and millions more registered online, securing your spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup may not be as simple as logging in to your preferred ticket retailer. According to FIFA, the best way to stay up to date with ticket release dates is by registering your interest on their website. There, you will be prompted to create a FIFA ID, which is needed to apply for and purchase tickets when the time comes. Lottery Tickets for the tournament will be released in several phases, with the first batch of tickets going on sale on Sept. 10. When phase one begins, a selection of registered fans will be able to apply for a random time slot to purchase tickets. Much like leading up to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the first phase of ticket sales will happen before the end of World Cup qualification, meaning you won't know who will be playing in the games you buy tickets to in this phase. A later phase will take place after the official draw has taken place and each qualified team has been placed into a group, giving ticket buyers in that phase a chance to see who will be playing where. Right To Buy If you don't want to test your luck with the lottery process, FIFA has provided a way to guarantee your chance at buying tickets with Right To Buy (RTB) digital assets on FIFA Collect. There are multiple ways to earn RTBs: Purchase Glory Packs – includes one RTB for a match in a specific host city Complete challenges – using digital collectibles, complete designated challenges to win RTBs as a reward Purchase Surprise Packs – packs of digital collectibles that have a chance at having an RTB inside Purchase via the Marketplace – other collectors who have earned RTB can resell them Glory packs are limited and if they sell out, they could be found on the FIFA Collect marketplace for a markup. Completing challenges and purchasing surprise packs requires an additional investment. This route also requires some knowledge of digital assets and currencies. Hospitality/Travel Packages In 2025, FIFA released hospitality packages for those looking for a premium experience, including VIP lounges, food and drink. Those packages start at $1,350 per person for single matches but, depending on the team, venue and stage of the competition, could cost several tens of thousands of dollars. Certain verified retailers and travel agencies also offer packages that include anything from flights, lodging, transportation, etc., in addition to entry to the game. Third-Party Ticket Retailers FIFA is keen on keeping its tickets on its own platform, even when it comes to reselling. If someone who purchased tickets is unable to attend a match, they can resell them on the FIFA ticket website. Using third-party resellers could be risky, as it requires the seller to send you the ticket outside of their platform, opening the possibility of fraud. The same goes for purchasing tickets outside of the stadium on match day.

Culver's to open nearly two dozen new restaurants in 11 states this year
(NEXSTAR) — Wisconsinites and their neighbors are no strangers to the beloved Butter Burgers, frozen custard, and the collecting of Scoopie Tokens from Culver's. They'll rush to get the Curder Burger when it returns to the menu for a limited time and try a cheese curd variation, even though Culver's cheese curds are delectable on their own. This year, several communities throughout the country will get to experience what Wisconsinites already love about the Badger State native. Culver's, which operates 1,000 locations across 26 states, is opening nearly two dozen new locations before the end of the year. Arizona Queen Creek: S Ellsworth Road Arkansas Harrison: Highway 43 N Florida Fort Meade: N. Charleston Avenue Jacksonville: Hyatt Road Leesburg: US Highway 441 Ruskin: 30th Street SE Illinois Diamond: E. Division Street Kansas Derby: N Rock Road Michigan Holland: E. 16th Street White Lake: Highland Road Woodhaven: Allen Road Southfield: Southfield Road Ohio New Albany: N. Pleasantburg Drive Tennessee Hixson: Northgate Mall Drive Oak Ridge: Oak Ridge Turnpike Sevierville: Dolly Parton Parkway Texas Katy: Peek Road Wisconsin Combined Locks: Martineau Road Eau Claire: Truax Lane Evansville: N. Union Street Unsurprisingly, Wisconsin, where Culver's was founded, has the greatest number of restaurants at 150. That doesn't include the soon-to-open locations. After Wisconsin, it's Illinois at 138, Florida at 120, and Michigan at 102. Arkansas and Wyoming each have two locations. According to the Culver's website, there are several states — or at least portions of them — in which the company has franchise opportunities. That includes Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming. Other areas, like all of Wisconsin and Michigan, roughly half of North Dakota and South Dakota, and portions of Florida, Texas, Indiana, Illinois, and Wyoming, are only available to existing franchisees currently operating there. In 24 states, all or most of the area is considered 'future markets' that are 'currently not available.' That includes areas in California, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

LGBTQ+ mental health hotline shuts down
WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) — The LGBTQ-specific part of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline shut down Thursday following a directive from the Trump administration, drawing bipartisan criticism from lawmakers and mental health advocates who warn the move endangers lives. The specialized LGBTQ+ line, launched in 2022, offered targeted support for individuals in crisis and had fielded more than 1.2 million calls, texts, and chats since its debut. 'There's more than a million of those moments where someone thought it would be better if they weren't here, and they had someone to call,' said Rep. Sharice Davids (D-Kan.). The Trump administration eliminated resources for diversity, equity and inclusion programs, including this crisis line. 'It's been very successful,' said Rep. Paul Tonko (D-N.Y.). 'And President Trump has determined to put politics ahead of care, ahead of saving lives.' According to the Trevor Project, about 40 percent of LGBTQ youth seriously considered suicide in the past year. Those with access to affirming mental health services like the 988 line were significantly less likely to attempt it. Even some Republicans, such as Rep. Mike Lawler (N.Y.), are urging the Department of Health and Human Services to restore the LGBTQ+ line. 'To me, this is about saving lives,' said Lawler. 'It is about preventing suicide. And it's something all of us as Americans should be unified on.' Lawmakers say the shutdown not only strips away critical mental health support but also sends a harmful message to vulnerable communities. 'Whether you are part of the LGBTQ community, whether someone in your family is or you have friends that are, every single one of us should be concerned about that,' Davids said. Lawmakers have sent a letter urging HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to immediately reverse the shutdown. As of now, the agency has not announced any changes.

What is chronic venous insufficiency?
(NEXSTAR) — The White House on Thursday said President Donald Trump was found to have chronic venous insufficiency after undergoing medical testing for 'mild swelling' in his legs and bruising on one of his hands. A note from Trump's physician shared by press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the 79-year-old president underwent ultrasounds and a 'comprehensive exam' that included a diagnostic vascular study, The Hill previously reported. Chronic venous insufficiency, or CVI, typically affects people over the age of 50, according to the Cleveland Clinic. The older a person gets, the higher the risk of CVI becomes. It affects roughly 1 in 20 people, the health system says. Trump undergoes medical exam for swelling in legs, hand bruising Generally speaking, CVI is when the veins in your legs do not allow blood to flow back up to your heart, Johns Hopkins Medicine explains. Blood can flow backward, leading it to pool in your legs. Untreated, a person with CVI may experience pain, swelling, cramps, changes to their skin, leg ulcers, and varicose veins. While not a serious health threat, according to Johns Hopkins, 'it can be painful and disabling.' In addition to age, your weight, family history, and any damage to your leg can cause CVI. People who are pregnant have also been known to develop the condition, per Johns Hopkins. Smoking, a lack of exercise, high blood pressure in the leg veins, deep vein thrombosis, and swelling may also cause CVI. Despite Trump's diagnosis, the exam did not show any evidence of deep vein thrombosis, his physician said. Deep vein thrombosis, or DVT, is when one or more blood clots form within the deep veins of your body. Often, those veins are in your legs, according to the Mayo Clinic. Swelling or pain in the legs are common symptoms. The Cleveland Clinic explains that treatment for CVI can include compression therapy and lifestyle changes, like exercising, elevating the legs, and managing weight. As for the bruising on his hands, Trump's physician said it was 'consistent with minor soft tissue damage from frequent handshaking.' in 'excellent health.'

Multistate salmonella outbreak linked to recalled frozen sprouted beans: CDC, FDA
(NEXSTAR) — Federal food and health officials have connected a salmonella outbreak impacting patients in 10 states to frozen sprouted beans that have been recalled. Since last fall, 11 people have been diagnosed with salmonella, data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows, with most of the cases occurring since early April. According to the CDC, Massachusetts has seen two cases in connection with this outbreak. Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and Washington have all recorded single cases. Patients range in age from less than a year old to 78 years old, and many of them said they had shopped at Indian grocery stores and consumed Indian cuisine. Four said they ate or likely ate sprouted beans. Which companies have agreed to drop artificial food dyes? The CDC said testing done by the Food and Drug Administration in May revealed samples of frozen sprouted mat, or moth, and moong beans tested positive for the same salmonella strain found in those who became ill. 'This means that people likely got sick from eating sprouted beans,' the CDC explained. Which products have been recalled? On Wednesday, Chetak LLC Group issued a recall for packages of Deep brand frozen Sprouted Mat (Moth) and Sprouted Moong. Both products were sold in 16-ounce pouches, the notice on the FDA website reads. Impacted packages will have one of the following lot codes printed on the back of the bag: Sprouted Mat (Moth): 24330, 25072, 25108, 24353, 25171, 24297, 25058, 25078, 24291, 25107, 24354, 24292 Sprouted Moong: 24330, 25072, 25108, 24353, 25171, 24297, 25058, 25078, 24291, 25107, 24354, 24292 The company said that while 'no illness have been reported to date in connection with this problem to company,' the sprouted beans were recalled over potential salmonella contamination that 'was noted after routine testing by FDA.' Meanwhile, an investigation into 'the source of the problem' is ongoing. If you have any of the recalled product, you are asked to return it for a full refund. What is salmonella? It's caused by the salmonella bacteria, which the CDC estimates cause 1.35 million infections, 26,500 hospitalizations, and 420 deaths in the U.S. yearly. Salmonella infections are commonly associated with diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps, according to the CDC. Symptoms can begin between six hours and six days after you've ingested the bacteria. Most people can recover without receiving treatment within four to seven days. Illnesses may be more severe for young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. Some may require medical treatment or hospitalization, the CDC explains. Infections can only be diagnosed with a laboratory test of a person's stool, body tissue or fluids. Other recent salmonella outbreaks have been linked to pistachio cream, eggs, and cucumber products.
