'I've tried to convince myself that I'm feeling good but I'm not and it's time to prioritize my health and my families [sic] future,' he wrote in the post. Advertisement 'I have given this team everything I have and I thought I had more to give, but the reality is I simply don't. I have to listen to my body and this has been one of the hardest decisions of my life.' As he spoke about Ragnow on Thursday, Campbell referenced one play from Detroit's 31-23 win over the Buccaneers in the 2024 NFC Divisional Round. With the Lions facing a fourth-and-goal from the one-yard line and the game knotted at 10-10, Detroit ran it up the gut with running back Craig Reynolds for the go-ahead touchdown. 'It was huge,' Campbell said. 'That's the type of player he was.' Advertisement 4 Lions head coach Dan Campbell said Thursday that retiring center Frank Ragnow will be 'sorely missed.' AP The 6-foot-5, 310-pound Ragnow played seven seasons with Detroit, sticking by the franchise through its rise from NFC North bottom-dweller to Super Bowl contender. He dealt with a recurring toe problem during his career, which caused him to miss 13 games in 2021, and it flared up in 2022 as well. Ragnow was a Pro Bowl selection in each of the last three seasons leading up to his retirement, and leaves a void for Detroit to fill on the offensive line as the team looks to contend for a championship this season.

Why Rams safety Kam Curl says he won't play 'Madden' this year Los Angeles Rams safety Kam Curl isn't happy he's featured in the new trailer for Madden 26. Rams featured in 'Madden 26' trailer — and not in a good way
Rams featured in 'Madden 26' trailer — and not in a good way The Los Angeles Rams' 2024 NFL season came to an end in a blizzard in the NFC Divisional Round, but fans will have to relive the game in the new trailer for Madden 26. The video showcasing the new game (with its cover athlete, Eagles running back Saquon Barkley) includes Madden-ized footage from the playoff matchup. One of the plays shown? Barkley juking Rams safety Kam Curl. Ouch. To be fair, Barkley did run all over the Rams in that game. He finished with 205 rushing yards and two scores in 28-22 win over L.A. The Rams beefed up their defensive front to prepare for this when they signed defensive tackle Poona Ford in free agency. They'll put their defense to the test against Barkley once more in a Week 3 showdown.

Lions C Frank Ragnow, 29, announces retirement after 7 seasons
One of the Detroit Lions' top players and the NFL's best interior offensive linemen is calling it a career. Longtime Lions center Frank Ragnow has announced his retirement from the NFL after seven seasons, he announced Monday. "These past couple of months have been very trying as I've come to the realization that my football journey is ending and I'm officially retiring from the NFL," Ragnow wrote in an Instagram post on Monday. "I've tried to convince myself that I'm feeling good but I'm not and it's time to prioritize my health and my families future. I have given this team everything I have and I thought I had more to give, but the reality is I simply don't. I have to listen to my body and this has been one of the hardest decisions of my life. "The Lions organization has been absolutely incredible throughout this process and I can't emphasize this enough how grateful I am for this team and all the fans. It was an absolute honor going to battle for you all." Ragnow, who turned 29 in May, has been one of the key reasons why the Lions have made their sudden turnaround from being one of the league's bottom dwellers to a Super Bowl contender in recent years. He was named a Pro Bowler for the fourth time in 2024, earning a second-team All-Pro honor for the third time in his career as well. In terms of advanced metrics, Ragnow graded out as Pro Football Focus' third-best center for the 2024 season. It credited him for allowing just two sacks and 21 pressures, including the postseason. Those numbers helped the Lions finish in the top 10 for the fewest sacks allowed for a third straight season, as Ragnow led an offensive line that's been widely regarded as one of the best in the league over the last few years. Ragnow also didn't miss much time over the last three seasons, sitting out just four games over that period. However, he played with a partially torn pectoral muscle for much of the 2024 season. In 2023, Ragnow only missed one game after undergoing surgery to repair his meniscus. He later suffered a sprained ankle and knee during the Lions' NFC Divisional Round win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that season, but didn't miss a snap. Prior to the 2022 season, Ragnow also dealt with a turf toe injury that cost him 13 games in 2021. He fractured his throat during a game in 2020 as well, playing the remainder of that tilt before missing two weeks. Losing Ragnow this late in the offseason is obviously a blow for the Lions, especially as they have hopes to win the NFC North for a third straight year. Second-round rookie Tate Ratledge has taken snaps at the position during the team's offseason workouts, but he played guard during his time at Georgia. Veteran guard Graham Glasgow has also played the position in the past. Ragnow is one of the few key pieces of the Lions' offense to depart this offseason as well. Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson departed to become the next head coach of the Chicago Bears, while right guard Kevin Zeitler left in free agency to sign a deal with the Tennessee Titans. NFL analyst ranks Matthew Stafford's supporting cast inside the top 10
NFL analyst ranks Matthew Stafford's supporting cast inside the top 10 Matthew Stafford is the key to the Los Angeles Rams' 2025 season. That is not hyperbole, as the Rams have won at least 10 games and made the playoffs every season Stafford also played at least 10 games. Fortunately, L.A. has had a great supporting cast around Stafford (barring injuries) during those years. And even when Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua both missed time earlier in the 2024 season, Stafford rallied the team when they returned and drove them to the NFC Divisional Round. The Rams' supporting cast in 2025 will be relatively similar, with the exception of swapping Kupp for Davante Adams. For some, that's an upgrade. FOX Sports' David Helman, meanwhile, ranked the Rams' group around Stafford as the sixth-best supporting cast heading into this season. "I'm just begging the Rams' offensive line to stay healthy in 2025, because this group should be scintillating if it can," Helman wrote. "Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua are already must-see TV, and now Davante Adams — even at the age of 32 — should lend a vertical, downfield element to the offense. The backfield, led by Kyren Williams, is strong, and the Rams just juiced their tight end depth by drafting Terrance Ferguson in the second round. With Sean McVay overseeing the playcalling, I legitimately think this could be the Rams' best offense since that incredible 2018 group that reached Super Bowl LIII." The addition of the rookie tight end should be a major boon for a Rams offense that lacked stability at that position for the entirety of last season and for most of McVay's tenure as head coach. Ferguson, Adams, and the continuity of the rest of the offense should go far for L.A. in 2025.
