Ex-Titans vet predicts if fans will boo or cheer Mike Vrabel in return
Ex-Titans vet predicts if fans will boo or cheer Mike Vrabel in return Former Tennessee Titans safety Blaine Bishop believes New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel will receive a warm welcome when he returns to Tennessee in Week 7 of the 2025 season. That will be one of the more intriguing games on the Patriots' roster from a storyline perspective. Vrabel, a former NFL Coach of the Year, not only brought the Titans back to the playoffs, but he led them all the way to the AFC Championship Game in 2019. He was later fired by the organization in 2023 after three playoff appearances. "It will be exciting, a great conversation piece, and I think he will be received well," Bishop said, via ESPN's Mike Reiss. "As a head coach here, he did really well up to the end. The fans loved Vrabel. He won. Was Coach of the Year [in 2021]. He's in the conversation, even though it was a short window, as one of the best coaches in the Tennessee Titans' small history." Vrabel and the Patriots are expected to go head-to-head with Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward for the first time as well. So the battle of young quarterbacks with Drake Maye and Ward will be the primary focus, along with Vrabel's return to the "Music City". There were plenty of Titans fans who didn't believe Vrabel deserved to get fired. So it wouldn't be a surprise to see a pro-Vrabel reaction when he initially steps onto the field. But after that show of respect, it will likely be back to business. The Titans beat the Patriots by a 20-17 margin when the two teams met in Tennessee last season, following a game-tying drive late in the fourth quarter by Maye. We'll see if the Patriots and Vrabel get their revenge in October. Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook.

2025 NFL odds: Back Jonathan Gannon to win Coach of the Year
We are now less than 100 days away from the start of the NFL season, with the Hall of Fame Game between the Chargers and Lions just two months away. Football is coming! We've had over a month to digest the NFL Draft, as well as some time to analyze the release of the schedule. With football so close to returning, books have done a good job of providing betting options not just on season win totals for each team or odds on who will win the Super Bowl, but markets for all the NFL awards. What is fun about betting on these awards, is you can get long odds and jumbo payouts if you pick correctly. It gives you something to root for over the course of the entire NFL season — you essentially have action on every game that involves your awards bet. With all of these awards open for betting, let's take a look at one wager I have already made. Jonathan Gannon 20-1 to win Coach of the Year (DraftKings) The Cardinals have been a plucky team under head coach Jonathan Gannon so far in his brief two-year tenure. After going 4-13 in 2023 without quarterback Kyler Murray for much of the season, the team improved to 8-9 in 2024. At one point, the Cardinals were 6-4 and looked like an NFC West contender before fading down the stretch. Can they finish the job this year and actually win the division? Well, if they do, Gannon will be squarely in the mix for NFL Coach of the Year, and with their division odds at +390, plus Gannon's odds at 20-1, Gannon is the better bet. My enthusiasm for the Cardinals comes from the attention and resources they've committed to their defense this offseason. They signed pass-rusher Josh Sweat away from the Eagles after he nearly won Super Bowl MVP with his performance against the Chiefs in February. Then in April, the draft was dedicated almost entirely to defense. Walter Nolen, Will Johnson, Jordan Burch, Cody Simon, and Denzel Burke are five defensive players that college football fans watched dominate on Saturdays the last few falls in college football. They all look to improve a defense that was 22nd in yards per play allowed in 2024. The Cardinals also have a schedule that's conducive to getting off to a hot start. In the first six weeks, they will likely see the following opposing quarterbacks: rookies Tyler Shough and Cam Ward, Bryce Young, Sam Darnold and whoever the Colts decide to play between Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson. Coach of the Year often goes to the coach of a team that makes it to the playoffs after missing the playoffs the previous year. Gannon checks that box and plenty of others, as the Cardinals could be much-improved in 2025. Will Hill, a contributor on the Bears Bets Podcast, has been betting on sports for over a decade. Pittsburgh Steelers are underestimated again but Mike Tomlin is assembling as surprise playoff push in silence
(Image via Getty: Mike Tomlin) Mike Tomlin has been the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers since 2007. During all these years, he never had a losing season, which is very rare in the NFL. Nevertheless, he has never received the NFL Coach of the Year award. Numerous individuals within the football community now think that 2025 may be the year Mike Tomlin will at last receive that recognition. Next season is not shaping up to be an easy one for the Steelers , but that might just benefit Mike Tomlin's argument. Mike Tomlin has toughest test in 2025 but may at last win Coach of the Year This season, the Pittsburgh Steelers are not regarded as a strong team by most analysts. This past May of 2025, prior to the season beginning, analysts on NFL Network and ESPN were forecasting that the Pittsburgh Steelers could only go 9-8 this season. The team made some puzzling moves during the offseason. They traded wide receiver Diontae Johnson on March 12, 2025, for draft picks in the future. They did not bring in a definitive top quarterback either, though Aaron Rodgers rumors were the talk in early April. In spite of this, Mike Tomlin is unshaken. At a press conference on May 5, 2025, in Pittsburgh, he stated, "Every season has new challenges. That's part of the job. But I believe in this group." His optimism has players and fans anxiously observing. If Mike Tomlin is able to get this team into the playoffs, it will be difficult for the league to disregard his work. Offense and defense can stealthily propel Pittsburgh Steelers into playoff conversation The Pittsburgh Steelers have made some adjustments that may serve them well. Offensive coordinator Arthur Smith has constructed a scheme that plays to the strengths of quarterback Mason Rudolph. Running back Jaylen Warren and rookie Kaleb Johnson are impressive. Tight end Pat Freiermuth and wide receiver D.K. Metcalf will be a major target. The defense is younger now, with new faces on the line and depth at linebacker. There are questions in the secondary, but Mike Tomlin said on May 10 via 'We'll clean things up in camp.' An unsurprising game named a 'must watch' for Tennessee Titans fans
An unsurprising game named a 'must watch' for Tennessee Titans fans The Tennessee Titans organization has an aura around it. It's a shift in mood, balance, and perspective. With the selection of Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the first pick in the 2025 NFL draft, and the additional upgrades on the offensive side of the ball, the Titans feel cautiously hopeful. The last time they felt this way was when Mike Vrabel was in Nashville. Vrabel will return to Nissan Stadium in 2025 as the head coach of the New England Patriots. It will mark his first return to the stadium since he was fired in 2023. Every Titans fan has this game marked on their calendar already, but The Athletic is also naming it a must-watch game. Welcome home, Mike Vrabel. The former Titans coach, who gave the franchise some of its best moments in Nashville — a run to the AFC title game, two division titles and the AFC No. 1 seed in 2021 when Vrabel won NFL Coach of the Year — will be back in the house two years after his ill-advised firing. Will he cross paths with Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk, who canned him a few weeks after making it clear publicly that he was safe? Will the fans show him any love? Is he about to revive the Pats while the Titans stay near the bottom of the league? In a schedule light on big moments for a bad team with no prime-time games, this one is spicy. It wouldn't be surprising if both of these teams are playing well, to see this game move to a primetime slot. However, it's an unlikely scenario. The Titans getting snubbed out of a primetime game after selecting the top quarterback in the 2025 draft class is a travesty. Cam Ward is the first No.1 overall draft pick to not have a primetime game since Cam Newton in 2011.

3 stars who should join Tom Brady and Terry Bradshaw in FOX NFL Sunday studio
The FOX NFL Sunday team will look a little different in 2025 without longtime staple Jimmy Johnson still in the fold. The 81-year-old former Dallas Cowboys coach retired from the post in March in what he called an "extremely difficult decision." The team has to announce a replacement for Johnson but still has plenty of stars without him, including host Curt Menafee alongside analysts Terry Bradshaw , Howie Long, Michael Strahan , and Rob Gronkowski. FOX could go in several directions to fill the void next season: the network could elect for a former coach, go for a former Cowboys player to fill the Dallas quota (FOX covers most regular-season Cowboys games), or leave the seat vacant for a season and wait for the biggest name possible. The network has further star power on the broadcasting side, especially after signing Tom Brady to a gaudy 10-year, $375 million contract last year. As a player, he was a key cog in the hailed Chicago Bears 1980s "Monsters of the Midway" defense. Rivera spent over a decade coaching in the NFL , capturing two NFL Coach of the Year awards with the Carolina Panthers. He was known as "Riverboat Ron" for his cavalier approach to going for it on third down. He was fired by the Washington Commanders after the 2023 NFL season. Rivera is a well-known personality with experience working in TV - working for SportsChennel Chicago in the 1990s - and with NFL Live on ESPN last season. He would also be the first person of Latin descent to work for the FOX NFL Sunday team. Michael Irvin would be a logical candidate for the 2025 FOX NFL Sunday team (Image: Getty Images) The Cowboys Connection: Michael Irvin Irvin was a three-time Super Bowl champion in Big D, ranking second in franchise history with 11,904 receiving yards. The Pro Football Hall of Famer matched his gaudy on-field numbers with his electric commentary on it. Irvin is a Hall of Fame personality, delivering a flurry of hit soundbites across his 15 years with NFL Network before he was let go in 2024. He is also an all-out Cowboys homer, exemplified by his positive relationships with many still on the team. He is also good friends with Johnson, who he played under in the 1990s. Irvin is already in-house with FOX, serving as a co-host on the debate show 'Speak' alongside Paul Pierce, Keyshawn Johnson, and Joy Taylor. The Active Player: Travis Kelce Quite simply, Kelce's relationship with Taylor Swift has elevated his status to being perhaps one of the most widely recognized American sports stars. He will return to the Kansas City Chiefs for at least one more season, but father time seems to be finally catching up to a star — he was held to just four catches in his team's Super Bowl LIX defeat. Would he be redundant next to another recently-retired tight end (Gronkowski)? Perhaps, but his appeal would attract millions of new eyeballs.
