Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars to joint practice, says Jags coach

The Miami Dolphins are going to have a joint practice or practices with the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to Jaguars coach Liam Coen. The Jaguars are going to play at the Dolphins in Preseason Week 3. Advertisement Joint practices are typically open to the public and are few days before the game. So, there could be a practice on or around Thursday, Aug. 21. Can anyone say Tyreek Hill vs. Travis Hunter? When is Dolphins vs. Jaguars joint practice? Sadly, the Dolphins will probably have traded former Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey by then. Joint practices are often more entertaining and competitive than the actual preseason games. The Dolphins may also have a joint practice or practices prior to preseason games at Chicago and Detroit. Top players often participate in these practices and then sit out the game. Miami Dolphins' Chop Robinson, De'Von Achane: 2025 team chemistry better; no missed days

Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel wants his players to be focused, on-time, self-disciplined and present, physically and emotionally, in 2025. It appears they've gotten the message. "I just say as a team, we're putting that energy and we're here every day, we be putting in that energy and we're here like every day, we're not missing days," running back De'Von Achane said. "Like you can see, like, this year's team is way different than last year's team." Advertisement After last season, some Dolphins players said there was some tardiness and some lack of total presence and focus at times. McDaniel believes an 8-9 finish last year helps send a clear message. The Dolphins must be more locked in, right away, in 2025. "I mean just everybody being here, you get to see the team chemistry like everybody just wants the same goal, everybody wants to be great," Dolphins edge rusher Chop Robinson said. "Everybody wants to win. So the only way to do that is doing it all together. So the chemistry is definitely better than it was last year." Dolphins' Chop Robinson: Chemistry better in 2025 The Dolphins are sorting out a potential trade for veteran cornerback Jalen Ramsey. But it is clear that overall, Miami has strong voluntary attendance. Advertisement Reporters even saw some veteran players watching a recent rookie minicamp. "All the people being here, we're just building that chemistry early and not waiting until like, you know, when the season started, then trying to build like during the season," Achane said. Achane, for example, is somehow already the longest-tenured Dolphins running back. Achane is only 23 years old. He's listening intently to McDaniel's directive. Dolphins' De'Von Achane: This is going to be different "Yeah, most definitely about being present," Achane said. "Like you said, just how I mentioned everybody's here. Like, you know, we know it's voluntary, but like if you want to win, you want to win games, this is where it starts at. I feel we're doing a good job as that. As long as we keep that going we're going to see this season is going to be different than last year." Jets Fan And ESPN Host Mike Greenberg Called Out For Hypocrisy

Controversy was sparked in the NBA world when the Dallas Mavericks won the NBA Draft Lottery on Monday, securing the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft. The Mavericks received massive criticism during the regular season for trading away franchise superstar Luka Doncic. As a result of the Mavericks, who had a 1.8% chance at the No. 1 pick, winning the lottery, NFL fans are making it crystal clear that they want no part of an NFL Draft Lottery. Advertisement One exception is ESPN's Mike Greenberg, who is most known for being a massive New York Jets fan. On Tuesday's episode of Get Up, Greenberg made the case that a lottery for any sport, and the NFL especially, is a massive benefit. The lottery theoretically discourages teams from tanking, with Greenberg declaring that tanking "runs contrary to literally everything sports is designed to be." "[Adam Silver] recognizes, as does every sports fan, that tanking is a scourge. Tanking is a disgrace. Tanking runs contrary to literally everything sports is designed to be. Incentivizing losing is the worst mistake any sport can possibly make... People saying, 'oh, this isn't working because the worst teams aren't getting the pick.' Shut up! That's exactly the wrong way to look at it. Win games... the NFL should add this. Every sport should add this. The lottery is a brilliant idea." "I just did the NFL Draft... the number of people who said to me coming out of Green Bay, 'well we'll just suck this year and get Arch Manning'... shut up! Win games for crying out loud... it should never benefit a team to lose any game that is being played." Former NFL offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz was one of many fans who vehemently disagreed disagreed with Greenberg. Schwartz specifically pointed to Greenberg's Jets allegiance, suggesting that Greenberg would have a different perspective if his beloved Jets were in a position to land the top quarterback in a draft. Advertisement 'If the Jets tanked this season and drafted QB1 do you think Greeny would have this same take for his favorite team?' Schwartz wrote on X. ESPN insider suggests massive NFL Draft change before Arch Manning becomes eligible

Arch Manning's junior season at Texas will be under a heavy spotlight this upcoming college football season, and many believe he's the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy and become the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. It's not a certainty Manning will decide to go pro next year, but he does have the option to do so being three years removed from high school. If he does, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter says the league should borrow from the NBA and host a draft lottery. The NBA's draft lottery is designed so teams can't tank a season for the first overall selection in the following year's draft. Though there was debate Monday about the Dallas Mavericks being awarded the first pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, they had just a 1.8% chance of getting the pick. Granted, NBA teams still try to lose to increase their percentage of winning the first pick in the lottery. But the process still works, and Schefter agrees with the NBA's decision not to incentivize losing altogether. "The more I think about it, the more I think the NFL should be in that business," Schefter said on ESPN Radio's "Unsportsmanlike." "They don't want teams to tank. They don't want teams to lose. We had a couple situations last year where, in the last game of the year, the [New England] Patriots are putting in Joe Milton. I'm not telling you they're trying to lose, but they certainly don't want to win." Milton did lead the Patriots over the Bills in Week 18, 23-16, but Buffalo sat most of its starters for the playoffs. Still, Schefter's idea is one that might catch on. "If nothing else, if the NFL were able to implement a lottery system, they'd have one more night of ratings," Schefter said. "They're doing shows for everything else. Why would there not be a draft lottery show? That would rate huge. Could you imagine a year where there is a top quarterback prospect or the year Arch Manning comes out? They put that in primetime, a half-hour special primetime NFL Draft Lottery. Come on, it's a home run." With Quinn Ewers drafted by the Miami Dolphins, Manning is the presumptive starter for the Longhorns for the 2025-26 college season. He has flashed his talent in games Ewers was hurt or Texas was up big, but he's never had to lead the team through a full season. Manning hasn't hinted one way or another regarding his draft status for 2026.. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
