2026 NFL MVP odds: Lamar Jackson the favorite ahead of Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes

We are still a couple of months away from training camp, but the betting market for the upcoming NFL season is starting to take shape. And judging by the odds, the race to be named the league's Most Valuable Player could be one for the ages. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is technically the betting favorite with +550 odds at BetMGM Sportsbook, but the two-time winner has plenty of company at the top of the board. There are five players — all quarterbacks — with odds between +550 and +850. Jayden Daniels is one of the favorites to win NFL MVP in 2026. Bill Kostroun/New York Post Bills' quarterback and 2025 MVP Josh Allen is the second favorite at +600, just ahead of Chiefs' signal-caller Patrick Mahomes (+650) and Bengals' star Joe Burrow (+700). 2026 NFL MVP odds Player Odds Lamar Jackson +550 Josh Allen +600 Patrick Mahomes +650 Joe Burrow +700 Jayden Daniels +850 Justin Herbert 20/1 Jalen Hurts 20/1 CJ Stroud 25/1 Jordan Love 25/1 Brock Purdy 28/1 Jared Goff 30/1 Caleb Williams 30/1 Baker Mayfield 30/1 Trevor Lawrence 40/1 Dak Prescott 40/1 Bo Nix 40/1 Odds via BetMGM Mahomes is a two-time winner, while Burrow has yet to snag the award. Jayden Daniels, the runaway NFL Rookie of the Year in 2025 for the Commanders, is the only other player below 20/1. Daniels is +850 to win MVP in his sophomore campaign. The first 16 players on the oddsboard at BetMGM are quarterbacks, with some notable prices including Justin Herbert (20/1), Jalen Hurts (20/1), Jordan Love (25/1), Caleb Williams (30/1), and Dak Prescott (40/1). The first non-QB on the board is Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles. The former Giant is 50/1, giving him the same odds as Kyler Murray and Matthew Stafford. Betting on the NFL? Justin Jefferson of the Vikings has the shortest odds of any wide receiver at 100/1. No wideout has ever been named NFL MVP. The last non-quarterback to be named NFL MVP was Minnesota's Adrian Peterson in 2012. The Raiders face some elite QBs this season. We rank all of them from worst to best

The Raiders face some elite QBs this season. We rank all of them from worst to best No position in sports is more important than the QB position in football. Despite all the talk of football being the "ultimate team sport" we all know teams live and die by their quarterback play. For that reason, we ranked all the quarterbacks the Raiders play this season. 14. Cleveland carousel When: Week 12 If you have as many QB options as the Browns have, you actually have none. They head into this offseason choosing between 40-year-old journeyman Joe Flacco, washed up headache Deshaun Watson and rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. 13. Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts When: Week 5 He completed just 47.7 percent of his passes last season. And it was his second season in the league, which is a very bad sign. His competition is fist round bust Daniel Jones. 12. Jaxson Dart, New York Giants When: Week 17 Dart was the second quarterback taken in this year's 25 overall. So, yeah, it was a weak QB class to say the least. I wouldn't expect too much success right away. 11. Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars When: Week 9 Lawrence has always tantalized with his arm talent, but outside of his 2022 season, he hasn't really lived up to it. Maybe Travis Hunter will help with that. Either way, he has a lot to prove in terms of consistency and ability to be a difference-maker in Jacksonville. 10. Cam Ward, Tennessee Titans When: Week 6 It may have been a weak QB class, but Ward was the unquestioned best in it and was pegged as the number one overall pick for months. 9. Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears When: Week 4 The former number one overall pick who was taken in a very strong class. Williams had a rough rookie season, but there's every reason to believe he will take big step up in year two. 8. Drake Maye, New England Patriots Maye had a solid rookie campaign in 2024. He took over four weeks into the season and completed 66.6 percent of his passes while throwing 15 TDs to 10 INT. Not exceptional, but something to build upon. When: Week 1 7. Bo Nix, Denver Broncos When: Week 10 and 14 The last of the first round QBs taken in 2024. Nix started every game, throwing for 27 touchdowns and leading the Broncos to the playoffs. As if the Raiders needed another top flight QB in their division. Buy Las Vegas Raiders tickets for 2025 6. Dak Pescott, Dallas Cowboys When: Week 11 He is coming off an injury shortened season, but his 2023 season was absolutely elite. He threw for 4516 yards and 36 touchdowns. 5. CJ Stroud, Houston Texans When: Week 16 The 2023 NFL Rookie of the Year has led the Texans to two trips to the playoffs and two playoff wins. 4. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers When: Week 2 and Week 13 Herbert has been considered one of the NFL top ten passers since he entered the league in 2020 as the draft's sixth overall pick. And with Harbaugh as his coach now, he is coming off his best season in terms of passer rating (101.7). 3. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles When: Week 15 The dual threat QB just led the Eagles to a Super Bowl championship. 2. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs When: Week 7 and Week 18 Mahomes was on the losing end of that Super Bowl. But his three Super Bowl rings kinda speak for themselves. He's at very least in the conversation for the league's top QB until further notice. Buy Las Vegas Raiders tickets for 2025 1. Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders When: Week 3 The reigning Rookie of the Year is absolutely electric and took the league by storm. Not only did he pass for nearly 4400 yards and 30 touchdowns, but he ran for 891 yards and six more touchdowns. Also see: Ranking Raiders 2025 games form easiest to toughest

ESPN's Louis Riddick calls Kansas City Chiefs RB Brashard Smith an Alvin Kamara clone

ESPN's Louis Riddick calls Kansas City Chiefs RB Brashard Smith an Alvin Kamara clone During a recent episode of ESPN's NFL Live show, Louis Riddick shared his feedback on the Kansas City Chiefs' 2025 draft class. He focused much of his attention on their seventh-round selection, Brashard Smith. "Keep an eye on Brashard Smith, he is an Alvin Kamara clone with 4.3 speed. They have got a lot of things going on right now in Kansas City," said Riddick, "they may have addressed their issues as good as anybody." Kamara was named the NFL Rookie of the Year, a Pro Bowler in his first five NFL seasons, and a two-time second-team All-Pro. He became the Saints' All-Time leading rusher. Riddick, who has a reputation for evaluating talent, highly praises Smith's comparison to Kamara. After a playing career in the NFL, Riddick became a pro scout for the Washington Redskins for four years, eventually getting promoted to Director of Pro Personnel. He next joined the Philadelphia Eagles as a pro scout and became their Director of Pro Personnel. He has since served as one of the top analysts on ESPN's NFL coverage. Last season, Smith earned Third-team Associated Press All-American All-Purpose and First-team All-ACC honors with SMU. He led the team with 1,332 rushing yards on 235 carries and 14 rushing touchdowns.

Robert Griffin III unloads on Browns for drafting Shedeur Sanders: ‘Set him up to fail'

It hasn't been a rosy start for Shedeur Sanders in the NFL. After the Browns took him in the fifth round at No. 144 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft to end his stunning nosedive, Sanders is looking at an uphill battle toward success, according to Robert Griffin III. Advertisement The former NFL Rookie of the Year and Heisman winner explained why the Browns' QB situation is 'set up for dysfunction.' 'They have $230 million that won't play,' Griffin explained on his X account, referring to Deshaun Watson's bloated contract that will handicap the team for the next two seasons. 'Brought in 4 QBs this offseason and the last one they brought in, Shedeur Sanders, is the #1 selling jersey of all rookies despite being drafted in the 5th round after their 3rd round pick Dillon Gabriel.' 3 Shedeur Sanders' fall to the fifth round was a shocker. Getty Images Advertisement Sanders has been a lightning rod for attention since he first arrived at Colorado, and that has carried over to the NFL as fans have come out in droves to support him by buying his No. 12 jersey. Alongside Sanders, the Browns' quarterback room consists of former Steelers first-round pick Kenny Pickett, veteran Joe Flacco, injured starter Deshaun Watson, who could potentially miss the entire season due to a ruptured Achilles tendon, and third-round pick Dillon Gabriel. Advertisement 'Shedeur Sanders is in a situation where the NFL and the Cleveland Browns have set him up to sink or swim in year one. What I really mean by that is, they set him up to fail,' said Griffin, the ex-ESPN analyst who is joining Fox Sports as a college game analyst. While the Browns drafted Gabriel before Sanders, Griffin believes that does not mean much. 3 Robert Griffin III hates the landing spot for Browns QB Shedeur Sanders. X, @RGIII 'Shedeur is the headliner of the group,' Griffin continued. 'He sells tickets. He sells Jerseys. He sells confidence to his teammates who have said they can't wait to play with him and non-teammates.' Advertisement Players around the league have been coming to the defense of Sanders, who was also the subject of multiple rants from draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. during ESPN's broadcast of the draft. 3 Shedeur Sanders threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns as a Colorado senior. AP 'The Cleveland Browns headliner is their 4th QB on the roster who will get the least amount of reps and opportunity in the group,' Griffin continued. Sanders, who was once a projected top-three draft pick, was a second team All-American last season in Colorado and his slide in the draft was a shocker that still hasn't been fully explained. It was previously reported that Sanders did not put his best foot forward with the Giants in a private interview with coach Brian Daboll, among others.

Top 2025 NFL Rookie of the Year candidates: Ashton Jeanty and Abdul Carter start as ROTY favorites

Last season, Jayden Daniels emerged as the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year, and Jared Verse won Defensive Rookie of the Year. Two players, both quarterbacks, were drafted ahead of when the Washington Commanders selected Daniels third. As for Verse, there were three defenders selected ahead of him, but the Los Angeles Rams found great value at No. 19. Who will emerge as the 2025 NFL Rookie of the Year winners? Let's take a look at the early candidates to win. Advertisement Related: 2025 NFL MVP odds 2024 NFL Rookie of the Year candidates (offense) 1. Ashton Jeanty, RB, Las Vegas Raiders Credit: Mark Hoffman / Milwaukee Journal Sentinel / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images As the projected starting running back in a Pete Carroll offense, Ashton Jeanty could put up big numbers in the NFL, just as he did at Boise State. Plus, as a rusher who can produce as a pass-catcher, the sky is the limit for a player who could flirt with 1,500 yards from scrimmage plus score double-digit touchdowns. 2. Cam Ward, QB, Tennessee Titans Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images Cam Ward is the biggest boom or bust prospect of the rookie class. Like we saw from Jayden Daniels last year, Ward has the potential to be a star thanks to his natural ability to make plays with his arm or his feet. But do the Titans have enough weapons to help him thrive? Advertisement Related: 2025 dynasty rookie rankings: Top 20 fantasy rookie rankings 3. Travis Hunter, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images How much will he play on offense? He won't get more targets than Brian Thomas in Jacksonville. Or will Travis Hunter be a better candidate to win Defensive Rookie of the Year? For now, he's in play for both awards. Related: Ranking all 32 NFL starting quarterbacks 4. Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Carolina Panthers Credit: Tork Mason / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images How many targets can Tetairoa McMillan steal as Bryce Young's newest weapon? That's the question for the eighth overall pick, who will be competing with Xavier Legette and Adam Thielen. Yet, being that he was selected so high, McMillan could be a big factor as a rookie. Omarion Hampton, RB, Los Angeles Chargers Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images While he'll be competing with Najee Harris for touches in the backfield, he'll still be a featured back in Jim Harbaugh's offense. Plus, Harris was only signed to a one-year deal, whereas Hampton is the future at the position so he's likely to get as many opportunities as he can handle. Abdul Carter, EDGE/LB, New York Giants Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images While it's still not known what type of role Abdul Carter will have as a rookie, we expect the Giants to put him on the field as often as possible. It may be off the edge, it may be at linebacker, but Carter will have a chance to record double-digit sacks. Advertisement Related: NFL defense rankings 2025 2. Travis Hunter, CB, Jacksonville Jaguars Credit: Travis Register-Imagn Images Travis Hunter could be deployed more on defense than he is on offense for a team that has a great need for a CB1. If Hunter can get his hands on a few footballs, he could very well emerge as a leading contender to win Defensive Rookie of the Year, he might even win the award on offense too. Related: Updated NFL power rankings 3. Jalon Walker, EDGE, Atlanta Falcons Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images The thing about Jalon Walker is that we know he'll be a starter for an Atlanta Falcons defense that desperately needs some pass-rush juice. Plus, he was viewed as a top-five defensive prospect heading into the draft process after an excellent career at Georgia, which has developed a knack for sending top-tier talent to the NFL. Advertisement Related: Top NFL sack leaders 2025 4. Mykel Williams, DL, San Francisco 49ers Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images After losing multiple defensive linemen in free agency, the San Francisco 49ers have some snaps to fill. Mykel Williams will gobble them up and likely be an above-average run stuffer who can make plays behind the line of scrimmage. If he can generate sacks too, he could be in play to win this award. Related: 2026 NFL mock draft: Latest Round 1 projections 5. Mason Graham, DL, Cleveland Browns Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images After making Mason Graham their top selection, the Cleveland Browns' defensive line has a chance to be elite in 2025. We know Myles Garrett will soak up double teams, which could leave Graham with a few open rushing lanes. If he can capitalize, Graham should be viewed as a top contender to win Defensive Rookie of the Year.
