Centre nod to 129 cr for Hunterganj bypass to ease traffic flow on two NHs in Chatra

Chatra: Travelling on old NH-99 and new NH-22 connecting Jharkhand and Bihar passing through Huntergunj bazar in Chatra district will be easy as the Union ministry of transport and highways have approved Rs 129 crore for the construction of a 7km-long bypass road, officials said on Tuesday. On Monday, the ministry authorised the district land acquisition officer as the competent authority of the project and directed him to acquire land for the project. The bypass road will be built from Bihar border Gosaindhi to Bhondal village in Chatra. It will pass through 15 villages of Hunterganj block in Chatra district. Chatra's old NH 99 and new NH 22 connect Jharkhand and Bihar. "In Hunterganj, this road passes through the market. Buses, coal vehicles to all types of vehicles remain stuck in traffic snarls for hours. The people of Hunterganj were demanding a bypass road for years," said another official. Chatra MP of BJP Kalicharan Singh said, "The money has also been released by the Centre.
