NITV Radio - On Air Program 30/04/2025
On today's program NITV Radio's Kerri-Lee chats to former ABC Radio host Jon Faine as we enter the final week of the election campaign. As Australia heads to the polls, cost-of-living pressures, housing, and Medicare are dominating headlines. But for many First Nations communities, a deeper question looms: where do our issues fit in the national agenda? Advocates are calling for stronger commitments to truth-telling, justice, and self-determination as we share this story by SBS and NITV News. The outgoing member for a Far North Queensland seat has drawn a rebuke from local Indigenous people after suggesting First Nations leaders weren't proposing enough policy ideas. In a special election episode of NITV's the Point, host John Paul Janke travelled to Cairns to speak with Indigenous Leaders about key issues in their region. In Far North Queensland, Aboriginal Elders and prominent South Sea Islanders are calling for action on Truth Telling as Australians cast their votes in the federal election this weekend. Our Queensland Correspondent Dan Rennie travelled to Mackay to speak with locals about their concerns.
