New Mangalore Port inaugurates Yoga Park

The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) opened a Yoga Park as a part of the International Day of Yoga at the port premises on Saturday, June 21, in Mangaluru. NMP Mahila Samaj president Sushma Akkaraju inaugurated the park in the presence of Port Authority Chairman A.V. Ramana and other senior officers. Developed to promote health and wellness within the port community, the park features a dedicated walking track and a spacious open area for Yoga, providing a peaceful environment for daily practice. All participants enthusiastically performed yoga as per the Common Yoga Protocol under the 'Yoga Sangam' initiative. To build awareness and enthusiasm ahead of the main event, NMPA had already conducted a week-long range of wellness activities in the port and nearby educational institutions. These included Y-Break Yoga sessions for employees, daily morning and evening yoga routines for employees and students, a special session on Yogic Lifestyle and Relaxation Techniques etc. Earlier in the day, the Yoga Day was celebrated in the port premises, attended among others by Mr. Ramana, deputy chairperson S. Shanthi, chief vigilance officer K. Padmanabhachar, senior officers, employees, staff and students. Mr. Ramana highlighted the transformative power of Yoga in aligning body, mind and spirit. Quoting ancient wisdom, he described Yoga as a journey of the self, through the self, to the self. He urged all employees to make Yoga a daily practice, not just for personal well-being, but as a step towards building a healthier, stronger, and more vibrant India. Konkan Railway Konkan Railway Corporation Limited joined the nation in celebrating the 11th International Day of Yoga by holding a special yoga session at Konkan Rail Vihar, Nerul, in collaboration with Shri Ambika Yoga Kutir. Executives and staff, along with their families, participated in the event. The session highlighted the importance of integrating yoga into daily life for overall physical and mental well-being as conveyed by KRCL Chairman and Managing Director Santosh Kumar Jha. Similar events were also organised in the Ratnagiri and Karwar regions.
