NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Fire Department were on the scene of a early morning fire in the Central Business District. Around 12:34 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, firefighters responded to an apartment fire in the 800 block of Gravier Street. NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Several families are displaced following a fire at a New Orleans East apartment complex. Firefighters with the New Orleans Fire Department were alerted around 6:29 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, of a fire in the 4500 block of Papania Street. Once learning it was an apartment complex, a second alarm was called at 6:37 a.m. Vessel collision on Lower Mississippi River sinks barge: U.S. Coast Guard NOFD officials said they simultaneously assessed the fire while working to extinguish the flames and evacuate the building. Firefighters were told that the fire began around the stove in a second story apartment and extended to two apartments on the right and through the common attic space.
