Stephen King Praises "Scary" Horror Series Streaming For Free

For fans interested in finding a new horror series worth watching, it's always a good idea to look at the recommendations made by author Stephen King. In addition to his own library of classic works that include the likes of Carrie and The Shining , King often takes time to highlight the projects of other creators. Now fans can check out one 'scary' horror series recommended by Stephen King that's currently streaming. The recommendations made by King on social media platforms over the years have continued to have a life of their own, with fans consistently reviving titles mentioned by King on X or Threads. For this particular recommendation, King recommended this title in 2019, with King calling the series both 'scary' and 'involving.' In an era of streaming, those are definitely two requirements that most horror fans have on their lists, so here's the series that King suggests via X that he claims is worth watching: ' NOS4A2 : Scary? Yes. Involving? Yes,' he begins with his recommendation. 'But it's also doing something network TV can't or won't do–showing working-class people doing their jobs and trying their damndest (sometimes failing) to be decent. The best horror stories are firmly wedded to real life.' The television series NOS4A2 is based on the 2013 novel of the same name by Joe Hill, King's own son, which should naturally be an appealing concept for fans of King's works. The series itself lasted for two seasons on AMC, and while that might not seem very long, it's actually just long enough to adapt the entirety of Hill's original book. As such, fans can get a complete story out of streaming NOS4A2 , which revolves around an artist who attempts to track down an immortal being named Charlie Manx with the use of her own supernatural abilities. The series is currently available to stream via a variety of platforms, including PLEX and Xumo Play where it's currently free, as well as platforms like AMC Plus. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional recommendations from Stephen King and other titles trending on streaming platforms as we have them. For those looking to stream a complete horror story in a series format, however, NOS4A2 is certainly a good choice – especially if you're a fan of Stephen King, Joe Hill, or the novel the series is based on.

Coventry's Summit General store prepares to reopen

COVENTRY, R.I. (WPRI) — It's been nearly three years since the Summit General Store in Western Coventry shuttered after more than five decades in business. But it will soon open its doors once again — thanks to the former owner of Scituate ice cream shop. Susan 'Suzy Q' Quattrocchi bought the former general store with the goal of breathing new life into the beloved business. 'I love the place and I didn't want to see it in disrepair,' Quattrocchi explained. 'Nobody wanted me to buy this place — everyone thought I was crazy.' Quattrocchi used to own Suzy Q's Place off of Plainfield Pike, which closed down in 2015 after a man broke in and vandalized the inside of the building. The damage was so severe that she decided it would be too expensive to rebuild. SEE ALSO: Former ice cream shop owner buys Summit General Store Summit General Store first opened in 1969 and served as a one-stop shop for those who lived nearby, selling groceries, deli products, farming supplies and tools. It was also home to the Greene Post Office. The general store took on a new name briefly back in 2018 when it was featured as Gunbarrel General Store in the AMC TV series 'NOS4A2,' which was primarily filmed in Rhode Island. Quattrocchi, who now owns a painting business, spent months renovating the entire building from top to bottom. 'I wanted to keep it the same as best I could, though it's still a little different,' Quattrocchi said. For her, it was a labor of love. 'I'm honored that I was given the opportunity to bring it back to life,' she said. 'I want everybody to feel like this is home. I want them to come in, relax and enjoy.' Quattrocchi told 12 News she is combining everything she loved about her ice cream shop with everything residents loved about the general store. 'I want to bring everyone together again,' she said. The general store, now named 'Suzy Q's Summit General,' will sell basic groceries, as well as deli sandwiches and ice cream. There are also plenty of places for residents to relax and take in the vintage memorabilia adorning the walls. Quattrocchi encouraged residents to give her ideas on what to stock the general store with. 'Whatever the community asks me for — I want to have it for them,' she said, adding that her only stipulation is 'no hardware.' The general store will officially open back up on Saturday at 11 a.m. Quattrocchi said there will also be a celebratory ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. Download the and apps to get breaking news and weather alerts. That's Officer Seyfried to you. Peacock has announced a March 13 premiere date for Long Bright River, its Amanda Seyfried-led adaptation of novelist Liz Moore's best-selling thriller. All eight episodes will drop at once. Long Bright River tells the story of Philadelphia police officer Mickey Fitzpatrick (Seyfried), who patrols an area hit particularly hard by the opioid crisis. 'When a series of murders begins in the neighborhood,' Peacock's logline teases, 'Mickey realizes that her personal history might be related to the case.' More from TVLine Law & Order: Organized Crime Adds Jason Patric to Season 5 Cast Jennifer Garner to Lead The Five-Star Weekend Series Adaptation Ordered at Peacock Teacup Cancelled at Peacock After One Season Showrunner and co-creator Nikki Toscano promises that viewers will experience Seyfried 'like you've never seen her before — flawed and raw, tarred by guilt and shame and legacy, but never more compelling.' She's also excited about Long Bright River's efforts to 'upend stereotypes' about multiple marginalized groups, including sex workers, people born into poverty and addiction, and even officers of the law. 'What makes Long Bright River so unique as a series is that it aims to deconstruct the 'police as savior' narrative — a journey pulled through our protagonist,' Toscano explains. Long Bright River also stars Nicholas Pinnock (For Life), Ashleigh Cummings (NOS4A2), Callum Vinson (Chucky), and John Doman (The Affair). Executive producers include Toscano, Moore, Seyfried, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Amanda Lewis, Amy Pascal, Russell Rothberg and Hagar Ben-Asher.
