Byron defeats Pecatonica in a battle of two of the Stateline's best teams
PECATONICA, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — With postseason tournament time only a week away, Byron and Pecatonica got a good tune-up on Monday. They face each other in a pairing of two of the best teams in the Stateline. Byron won Lady Tigers went into the game with a 27-2 record and the #5 ranking in Illinois in Class 2A. Pecatonica went into the game with a record of 24-4 and the #3 ranking in Illinois in Class led most of the game building up a double-digit lead early in the third quarter. Pecatonica sliced that down to four before the end of the quarter when Elaina Rager made an 'And-One' and a pair of shots from behind the arc. But the Lady Tigers pulled away led Pecatonica with 19 points. Macy Groharing scored 19 and Malia Morton 14 for has one regular season game remaining Thursday night at Elgin St. Edward. Pecatonica has a huge game Tuesday night. The Indians will host Orangeville in a game that could give Pecatonica its first NUIC North highlights of this game, watch the media player above.
