Fourth man arrested over Starmer firebomb attacks

The investigation is being led by detectives from Scotland Yard's counter-terrorism command. A Scotland Yard spokesman said: 'A fourth man has been arrested as part of an investigation into a series of fires in north London. 'A 48-year-old man was arrested on Monday, 2 June at London Stansted Airport. He was initially stopped by officers under schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act, 2000, before being arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life. 'The arrest is connected to an investigation into a vehicle fire in NW5 on Thursday, 8 May, a fire at the entrance of a property in N7 on Sunday, 11 May and a fire at a residential address in NW5 in the early hours of Monday, 12 May. 'The man has been taken to a London police station, where he currently remains in police custody.' The first incident occurred in the early hours of VE Day on May 8, when the London Fire Brigade was reported to a vehicle fire at an address in NW5. A Toyota Rav 4 hybrid electric car had burst into flames but at the time investigators did not believe the cause of the blaze was suspicious and put it down to a battery malfunction. The car had previously belonged to the Prime Minister, but after last summer's election win, he had sold it to a neighbour. In 2020 it was pictured in a number of media reports after Sir Keir – who was leader of the opposition at the time – was involved in a minor collision with a Deliveroo worker. Three days later in the early hours of May 11 the fire brigade attended a fire at a terraced property in Ellington Street in N7. The front door of the property, which comprised four flats, was badly damaged in the fire and residents had to be helped out by firefighters. It later emerged that Sir Keir had bought the flat jointly with a girlfriend in 1991 but they had sold it in 1997. The third incident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning, when the Starmers' family home in north London, was targeted in a suspected firebomb attack. The Prime Minister and his family moved out of the four bedroom property and into Downing Street following the General Election, since when it has been rented out to Lady Starmer's sister for a peppercorn rent.

Man arrested after ‘firebomb' attack at Starmer's home

A man has been arrested after a 'firebomb' attack at Sir Keir Starmer's home. The 21-year-old was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He remains in custody and the arrest relates to three incidents. On Monday, May 12 at 1.35am, police were alerted by the London Fire Brigade to reports of a fire at a residential address in NW5. A Met Police spokesman said: 'The investigation team are also considering two other incidents - a vehicle fire in NW5 on Thursday, 8 May and a fire at the entrance of a property in N7 on Sunday, 11 May - and are investigating whether they may be linked to the fire in NW5 on 12 May.'
