Four women felicitated for revival of river Noon
Kanpur: District magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh felicitated four women labours, one physically-challenged labour, and two women gram pradhans who are working in the rejuvenation of river Noon, on the occasion of
World Environment Day
on Thursday
The felicitated women were Rita (Nadiha Khurd), Saraswati (Jarari), Ruparani (Barhat Bangar), and Asha Rani (Hingupur Bangar), and Shyamu.
Similarly, felicitated women gram pradhans were Anita (Indalpur Shivrajpur) and Kusma Nishad (Hingupur Bangar).
The source of river Noon is Kanhaiya lake, and this 48.5 kms long tributary river submerges into Ganga river at Ramel Nagar. The administration had conducted a drone mapping of the river to make it live. It was found that around 23.5 km long bed of the river requires Feb 22, 2025, renovation work commenced.
The DM felicitated the labours and gram pradhans in a function held at Sai College of Medical Science & Technology, Chaubeypur. Singh, along with Deeksha Jain, CDO, also planted a sapling in the college premises on this occasion.
