The three-day grand pre-wedding celebration of Anant Ambani, son of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, and Radhika Merchant kicked off with a star-studded cocktail night on March 1 in 2024 in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The event saw a gathering of prominent personalities from across India and abroad. Among all the festivities, what truly touched people's hearts was Anant Ambani's heartfelt 'thank you' speech. In it, he opened up about his close bond with his grandparents and shared some deeply personal memories.
While talking about his maternal grandmother (nani), Anant proudly revealed that she identifies as a Nagar Brahmin. 'My nani always says with great pride that she is a Nagar Brahmin,' Anant said with a smile. He added that he had spent a lot of time with her while growing up and learned many important lessons from her.
Anant's maternal grandmother is Purnima Dalal, the mother of Nita Ambani. Her husband, Ravindra Bhai Dalal, Anant's maternal grandfather, passed away in 2014.
Anant also spoke fondly about Radhika Merchant's grandparents. He said, 'Radhika's nana is blessing us from above. I know he is happy watching over us.'
As he continued, Anant mentioned his paternal grandmother, Kokilaben Ambani, lovingly calling her 'Kokila Mummy' and said she has always been an inspiration to him. 'She's from Jamnagar. She is my source of strength and guidance,' he shared.
He didn't forget to mention his late grandfather, Dhirubhai Ambani, the legendary founder of Reliance. Speaking with emotion, Anant said, 'Wherever he is, I know he's watching over me and blessing me.'
His touching words brought tears to the eyes of many in the audience, especially his father, Mukesh Ambani, who was visibly emotional during the speech. It was a beautiful moment that reminded everyone that even in the most glittering celebrations, what matters most is love, family, and the values passed down through generations.
