Kin of drowned fishermen to get Rs 10 lakh each
Vijayawada: The coalition government extended its support to the families of two fishermen from Nagayalanka mandal, Krishna district, who tragically died after falling from their boat near Antarvedi in Konaseema district while fishing for their livelihood. The deceased were identified as Nagidi Ramu from Gullalamoda village and Tammu Pothuraju from Sangameswara village. With the special initiative of agriculture minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu, the government has announced compensation for the bereaved families. Each family will receive Rs 5 lakh from the state government and an additional Rs 5 lakh from the fisheries department, totalling Rs 10 lakh per family. The state government has assured the victims' families of its full support. The minister also directed fisheries department officials to take measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents. He instructed them to provide timely advice and guidance to fishermen, raising awareness about the precautions necessary to avoid accidents.

Two fishermen drown as boat capsizes in rough seas off Andhra Pradesh coast
Two fishermen died in a boat accident off the Antarvedi coast in Konaseema district, Andhra Pradesh, after their vessel was caught in high tidal waves during unfavourable sea incident took place on Sunday evening when six fishermen from Gollalamooda village in Nagayalanka, Krishna district, went to sea aboard a fishing boat. The boat was owned by Nagidi Venkateswara returning to the Antarvedi coast due to worsening weather, the boat was hit by strong tidal waves. Two fishermen — Nagidi Ramu, aged 28, and Tummu Pothuraju, aged 50 — reportedly fell overboard and went missing. The remaining four fishermen managed to return safely to shore. Later, the bodies of the two missing men were recovered and confirmed by the Srinivas from Sakhinetipalli Police Station visited the site. The bodies have been sent to Rajole Government Hospital for postmortem. A case has been registered, and the investigation is September 2024, a fishing boat belonging to Tamil fishermen sank after allegedly being rammed by a Sri Lankan Navy vessel while fishing in the south-east of Kodiyakkarai. The fishermen — Shaktivel, Devaraj, Karthikeyan, and Satish from Cheruthur — were reportedly working in the area when the Sri Lankan patrol ship struck their boat, causing it to injured fishermen were then detained and questioned for nearly six hours by Sri Lankan Navy officers before they were given medical assistance.
