Heritage Panel Nod to New Admin Building 108 Metres Away from Old Treasury
Nagpur: The
Nagpur Heritage Conservation Committee
(HCC) on Tuesday approved the proposed construction of a
new administrative building
for
Nagpur district collectorate
, which will be 108 metres away from the existing heritage structure, the
old treasury building
. The committee expressed satisfaction over the planned distance and alignment, thereby clearing the project during its meeting at Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) headquarters on Tuesday.
The meeting was chaired by committee president and divisional commissioner Vijayalaxmi Bidari. Several key officials were present, including NMC chief engineer Leena Upadhye, assistant director of town planning department Ruturaj Jadhav, superintendent engineer of Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) Prakash Pangarkar, and deputy engineer Rajeev Gautam.
MSIDC officials presented a proposal seeking exemption from the requirement of a
No Objection Certificate
(NOC) for integrated redevelopment of various govt offices in Nagpur, including the divisional commissioner's office and the collectorate. The officials clarified that the new administrative building would maintain a safe buffer from the heritage treasury structure, which was well received by the committee.
Additionally, discussions were held regarding the proposal concerning the Shri Jagruteshwar Devasthan in the Jaganath Budhwari area.
