Ambazari Ghat in a shambles, NMC slammed for poor upkeep
Nagpur: Citizens visiting the Ambazari ghat for the cremation of their loved ones have slammed the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) for its poor maintenance, although they acknowledged that it is one of the city's better-maintained ghats. TOI recently visited Ambazari ghat and found several issues in the maintenance of the place. The two blocks built for seating arrangements for those visiting the ghat and provide them a refuge from the blistering heat were in a shambles. Both blocks lacked adequate maintenance with spider webs spotted conspicuously. One of the blocks was stacked with sacks of cow dung cakes used in the cremation, while another was blocked by a stack of wood. Additionally, since there is civil work going on near the ghat, a big excavator was parked near the wash basin, blocking citizens' access to the water faucets. "The seating space is in very bad condition and of no use. It's infested with spiders and spider webs. After paying so much money to the civic body, it should at least keep the area clean as this is the spot where we bid adieu to our loved ones," said a Nagpurian, who was at the ghat for a relative's last rites. The citizens also pointed out that the lack of access to the faucets deprives them of washing hands. "It is common sense that the excavator should not be parked in front of the faucets. How can anyone wash hands or use water?" said another citizen. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Scarlett Johansson, 40, Shows Off Her Real Size In A New Vacation Photos 33 Bridges Undo The NMC, however, has installed garbage bins and a nirmalya collection centre at the spot, yet garbage was seen lying at some spots. Only one water cooler was operational, and it came to the rescue of the citizens visiting the ghat under soaring mercury.
