Lisa Leslie Sees Herself in This Current WNBA Star

Las Vegas Aces center A'ja Wilson has quickly become one of the WNBA's top performers. In her first seven seasons in the league, she won the league MVP three times and was named to six All-Star teams. Last season, she averaged 26.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game. She's done more of the same at the start of this season. On Tuesday, the 28-year-old scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead her team to an 87-62 victory over the Connecticut Sun. Advertisement Now she's drawn comparisons from Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Lisa Leslie. During Tuesday's edition of the 'Locked on Women's Basketball' podcast, Leslie, 52, said she sees herself in Wilson as they both get inside the box well and can shoot from anywhere on the court. 'I think, hands down, A'ja Wilson,' Leslie said. 'I see there's a lot of blurred lines in our game.' She also mentioned that Wilson's ability to score is similar to hers, as both can score from wherever on the court. Advertisement 'Her ability to score from anywhere,' Leslie said. 'She's not afraid. She probably faces up more than I did on certain areas of the block.' Leslie added that the game is more face-up now than when she played. She also noted that Wilson's ability to score from the free-throw line or up close is almost like hers. WNBA legend Lisa Leslie.© Denny Medley-Imagn Images Leslie also thinks her game is comparable to Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier, who is in her seventh season in the league. The former player mentioned Collier's ability to block shots is quite impressive, despite being 6-foot-1 compared to 6-foot-5 like herself. Wilson's next game is on Sunday against the Washington Mystics, so we will have to see if she can keep up the strong performances after receiving comparisons from the Hall of Fame center. Carter will be in studio one or more nights a week through the playoffs when the NBA returns to NBC and debuts on Peacock in October. Draymond slyly claps back at Robertson for HOFer's passing critique

Draymond slyly claps back at Robertson for HOFer's passing critique originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area Draymond Green issued a stern response to Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson's critique of him in the most respectful way he could. After the former 12-time NBA All-Star grilled Green for calling the league 'boring' during All-Star Weekend, the veteran Warriors forward responded to Robertson on the latest episode of his podcast, 'The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis.' 'I thought those comments were very interesting,' Green told co-host Baron Davis. 'The 'Big O' is 86 years old, so if you think I'm going to come on here and disrespect because there was disrespect thrown, that ain't how I roll. I'm never going to disrespect one of the pioneers of the game because he shared a bad opinion. 'When speaking of the Big O, though … We want to enjoy our last years we got with our pioneers, the time we do have left with them, we're going to enjoy that. I'm going to enjoy these last years.' "Who cares what Draymond says" 😂😂 NBA legend and HOF'er Oscar Robertson in response to Draymond Green's comments about the NBA being boring.@TermineRadio | @TheFrankIsola — SiriusXM NBA Radio (@SiriusXMNBA) February 17, 2025 In his criticism of Green, Robertson said the Warriors forward might find today's NBA 'boring' because of how frequently he passes the ball to sharpshooting teammate Steph Curry. Green doesn't understand that criticism one bit, and pointed out what he believes to be the irony in Robertson's comments. 'When we start talking about knowing the game and how you think the game, I'm not sure what idiot wouldn't want to pass Steph Curry the ball when he's the greatest shooter of all time,' Green added. 'I don't really take that personal. Certain games I'm going to look for him even more than you're accustomed to me looking for him, because why wouldn't I? '… For a guy who averaged 11 assists [per game], you were also passing the ball. You cannot quite average 11 assists and not pass the ball. In the year that Big O won a championship when he was starting to age, you were passing the ball to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar himself. Not quite sure where the dig comes from.' Green also revealed that he saw and spoke with Robertson before the Kia Skills Challenge during All-Star Saturday Night at Chase Center and received plenty of praise from his soon-to-be detractor. 'During the skills challenge that I blew, I saw him on the sidelines,' Green shared. 'I got up out of my seat, I said 'hello,' and he's like, 'Man, you're still out there doing it. Keep on going, love watching you play, man. I just love watching you play, you keep going.' So to hear him say that and then the next morning he completely flipped and go opposite, I was a little surprised by that, I must say. Because it wasn't quite that same energy when I saw him.' Maybe, as Green speculates, Robertson just doesn't tune in to many Warriors games. 'Quite honestly, at 86, I'm pretty sure Big O ain't watching many of our games. Big O [is] sound asleep by the time we play at night,' Green told a giggling Davis. 'He sound asleep. There's zero percent chance Big O is up watching the Dubs.' Fair point. Oscar Robertson rips Draymond for calling today's NBA ‘boring'

Oscar Robertson rips Draymond for calling today's NBA 'boring' originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area Draymond Green's opinion on today's NBA doesn't carry much weight for Oscar Robertson. The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer responded to the Warriors forward saying at NBA All-Star Media Day on Saturday that the league has become 'very boring' and lacks substance. 'Draymond says so much, who cares what Draymond says? It doesn't mean anything,' Robertson told SiriusXM's Justin Termine and Frank Isola on Sunday. 'One guy can say this, one guy can say that; people either like the game or they don't. I think people enjoy the game, especially if their team can win.' 'It might be boring to him because if he doesn't pass the ball to [Steph] Curry, what is he doing? Not to single that out because he knows how to play basketball, but he's passing the ball to Curry more than anyone I've ever seen in basketball. It might be boring to him at times because of what he's doing, it might be boring. When he's out there, he's not shooting a lot, he's not guarding a lot, so it's boring.' "Who cares what Draymond says" 😂😂 NBA legend and HOF'er Oscar Robertson in response to Draymond Green's comments about the NBA being boring.@TermineRadio | @TheFrankIsola — SiriusXM NBA Radio (@SiriusXMNBA) February 17, 2025 Shots fired. In his original comments that went viral, Green explained that today's NBA lacks a certain level of gamesmanship and cherishes matchups against Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James because of his basketball IQ. 'Every possession is some type of chess move,' Green said. 'You don't get that today in the NBA, often. … You don't just get that on a regular basis. It's just who can run faster, who can hit more threes. It's no substance. I think it's very boring.' 'You want to be one of the teams that aren't playing an accidental game. That's the challenge.' Green and the Warriors' final regular-season chess match against James and the Lakers will be April 3 at Arena. Download and follow the Dubs Talk Podcast
