Man arrested in 2024 string of car thefts
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man accused of going on a theft spree last year was arrested on Monday after the stolen cars were all found on the same day, Memphis Police say.
Nakiel Addison, 26, is charged with seven counts of theft of property $10,000-$60,000, theft of merchandise $60,000-$250,000, theft of firearm less than $2,500, burglary of a motor vehicle, and evading arrest.
On May 9, 2012, a black Springfield XD .40 caliber firearm was reported stolen. It was not found until July 29, 2024.
On May 12, 2024, a red 2020 Nissan Murano was reported stolen. It was found on July 29 with broken windows. Police say it had been reprogrammed, causing over $1,000 in damages.
On July 19, 2024, a blue 2020 Nissan Maxima was reported stolen. It was found with several bullet holes, a broken window and had been reprogrammed on July 29. There was over $1,000 worth of damages reported to the vehicle.
On July 26, 2024, a white Nissan Murano was reported stolen and found on July 29, 2024. The vehicle had more than $1,000 worth of damage, with a broken window, and was reprogrammed.

On July 28, 2024, a company reported that two of their utility trailers, a Vermeer skid steer, two Vermeer stump cutters, and their white 1999 Chevrolet were stolen. The two Vermeer stump cutters and the Chevrolet were all found on July 29.
The same day, a 2014 Infiniti QX60 was reported stolen. When it was found, it was damaged due to being in a crash and reprogrammed. Over $1,000 worth of damage was done to the vehicle.
A 2019 Nissan Murano was also reported stolen the same day. It was found on July 29 with a broken window and reprogrammed with more than $1,000 worth of damage.
On July 29, 2024, a 2019 red Chevrolet Camaro was reported stolen and recovered later that day. It was found with a broken window, a destroyed tire and had also been reprogrammed.
A warrant was issued for Addison's arrest on September 10, 2024.
Addison was committed to jail on Monday and is due in court on Tuesday morning. His bond has yet to be set.
