Open day event being held as new community garden in Bargeddie is unveiled

The project was a collaboration between the primary schools and community centre A new community garden is being unveiled in Bargeddie. An open day is being held to officially launch the new St Kevin's and Bargeddie Community and School Garden Project. ‌ The initiative has been developed in collaboration by St Kevin's Primary and Bargeddie Primary, The Safety Zone community centre, and with generous support from North Lanarkshire Council, Tarmac, Viridor, SafeDeposit Scotland, and other local volunteers and businesses. Chair of the Parent Council at St Kevin's Primary School, Gareth James, said: 'Over the past six months, we have transformed a previously unused area of land adjacent to the school into a vibrant garden space. ‌ "The project features an open-air classroom, eight raised beds for growing vegetables and herbs, and a state-of-the-art polytunnel for cultivating fruit and other plants.' The open day will take place on Monday, April 28 from 11am to 2pm. Entry is via The Safety Zone, 61 Gairbraid Terrace, Bargeddie, G69 7SN. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the garden, enjoy complimentary refreshments, and indulge in some delicious ice cream.
