Netflix is removing Sailor Moon Crystal — watch it before it's gone!
One of Netflix's most iconic anime titles, Sailor Moon Crystal, is leaving the platform soon — and fans have just weeks left to watch it.

Netflix has confirmed that they will be dropping Sailor Moon Crystal after July 1, 2025 at the latest. That makes June 30 your last opportunity to stream all three seasons of this iconic anime on the service.
This removal is an early victim of Netflix's regular licensing removal rotations, where the show is removed when their licensing contracts expire. It's a huge let down for diehards, too, considering that Sailor Moon Crystal is largely responsible for bringing countless new eyes to the Sailor Moon universe.
What is Sailor Moon Crystal about?
For those who are new to the world of Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon Crystal is a more accurate retelling of the classic 90s anime adapted from Naoko Takeuchi's iconic manga.
It centers on a teenage girl named Usagi Tsukino, who magically metamorphoses into the titular defender of love and justice, Sailor Moon. Along with her fellow Sailor Guardians, she fights against the forces of darkness in search of the Legendary Silver Crystal.
Crystal's departure from it in terms of story and characterization largely came from the fact that it follows the manga more closely. Though the film's distinctive animation style was widely panned at the time of its release, producers found their footing by incorporating more dynamic storytelling in later episodes and films.
Netflix losing anime licenses is becoming more common
Netflix has invested both money and time in establishing its anime library with exclusive licenses and original productions. In recent months it's become more evident to fans when major/important anime titles slip away from the service unnoticed.
Death Note, Hunter x Hunter, and now Sailor Moon Crystal — all these exits paint a picture of Netflix either shifting their anime strategy, or being bested by competitors such as Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Disney+.
