PETALING JAYA : An official vehicle of the Sri Gading parliamentary service centre in Johor was reportedly vandalised by an unidentified person at around 11am yesterday.
Sri Gading MP Aminolhuda Hassan said the suspect, who was on a motorcycle, had deliberately damaged the Toyota Estima parked outside the premises, Utusan Malaysia reported.
'Officials who were at the office tried to chase the suspect, but failed. However, they managed to record his motorcycle's number plate,' he was quoted as saying.
Aminolhuda said a police report was lodged at the Yong Peng police station and the suspect was arrested yesterday.
The Johor Pakatan Harapan chairman condemned the act as extreme, and called for all parties to practise mature politics.
'We do not want extreme actions because of differences in opinion,' he said.
Batu Pahat police chief Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani confirmed the incident. However, he said the attack was not politically motivated as the suspect is believed to be mentally ill.
In a Facebook post later, Aminolhuda said the car had been donated to the service centre by his wife Naomie Salim for office use.
