The documentary, entitled '1.14 – an Alberto Tomba Story', premièred exclusively at the Cinemino movie theatre in Milan on June 6. With it, Napapijri has created a unique, unforgettable narrative celebrating universal values such as courage, authenticity and the yearning for exploration. In the film, Napapijri, a pioneer in cultural and design experimentation, tells the authentic story of multiple World Cup and Olympic gold medal winner Tomba. He clinched his first World Cup victory in Sestriere in 1987, the same year Napapijri was founded. The documentary is an honest and unprecedented portrayal of Tomba through archive images and unpublished interviews. The title refers to the 1.14-second lead the Bologna-born skier carved out at the end of the first run in the giant slalom race at the 1988 Calgary Olympics, where he won gold. 'Winning was my life,' said Tomba, speaking in the garden of his Bologna house to Tommaso Cassissa during an interview about the documentary. In a conversation before the screening, Tomba and Cassissa also discussed the future of Italian Alpine skiing.
